SEVERAL YEARS AGO I FLEW WITH MY THEN 2,4,& 6YR OLDS. THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT TOOK PITY ON ME AND GAVE ME 3 SETS OF EARPHONES FOR THE MOVIE FREE! THAT WAS BEFORE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT WAS POPULAR (15 YRS AGO). WE GOT ALONG WITH A FEW SMALL TOYS, COLORING BOOKS, AND SNAX. AT FIRST OUR SEATS WERE SEPARATED AND THE TICKET AGENT TOLD ME TO EXPLAIN LOUDLY WHERE THE AIR SICK BAG WAS AND THAT I WOULD BE WAAAY OVER THERE IF THEY NEEDED ME. IT WORKED! SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY CHANGED SEATS SO WE COULD ALL BE TOGETHER! LOL! WE FLEW ACROSS COUNTRY, CHANGED PLANES, HAD ONE FLIGHT CANCELLED, REROUTED AND HAD TO TAKE A BUS FROM ONE AIRPORT TO ANOTHER AND THE BOYS JUST THOUGHT IT WAS ALL PART OF THE ADVENTURE! (THAT'S BECAUSE I DIDN'T PANIC!) I'D DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT BECAUSE IT WAS AN ADVENTURE!

These are great. We recently did 8 hour flights with the kids and I forgot the Leapster. But it was fine. He just colored and talked and talked and talked.

I would add one more thing to your list. Tape. My kids love it.

Yes, but when you have an infant, I want to know how on earth to carry it all! and what do I REALLY need at the other end.
I mean the car safety seat and the stroller are obvious, but is the play yard/port-a-crib really necessary? or can't babies sleep for a night or two on a blanket without a surrounding crib/bassinet/etc....?
