Scripture: Titus 2:4-5

4These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, 5to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.

Observation: Younger women need to be trained in appropriate behavior by older women to behave in ways honoring to the Lord.

Application: This passage is actually quite reassuring to me.

Almost ever since I became a mom I’ve been searching for a nearby mentor. Serving in the role of a mom was a big adjustment for me. And being a submissive wife is certainly a challenge, as well.

Reading this shows me that I am not alone. It’s okay that all of that doesn’t come naturally. I am meant to be trained and mentored.

And I am so thankful to the Christian mentoring I am receiving, whether that be in person or via some excellent women’s resources online and in other media.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for this reassurance today.

It’s nice to know that I am not a failure who just doesn’t get it, but that your intention is that the older should mentor the younger. Please guide me in obtaining the training and mentoring you have in mind for me. And when it is my turn, show me how to train and mentor in a way honoring you alone and not me.

Thank you, Lord, for the mentors and resources available to me. Please help those moms and wives who feel  lost and don’t know where to turn. Present them with undeniable opportunities to grow closer to you and give them the strength they need to turn their lives over to you.

Great message!!! And, such an important one that seems to be overlooked sometimes!

Some women get so “fired up” when they see the word ’submissive’…but, it’s such an honorable thing. Because…not only are we called to be submissive to our husbands…but, they, in return, are called to treat us with such honor and respect that it’s SUCH an equal relationship! Thanks for this post!
