Bible in 90 Days– Why Frugal Femina is IN

December 21, 2009

Guest Post by Katie Hostetter at Frugal Femina

When I first read Amy’s guest post at The Finer Things in Life about reading the entire Bible in 90 days, my first thought was, “Does it come on CD?” Because I could totally get on board if I could listen to it while I’m driving in the car, exercising, or fixing breakfast.

Alas, it does not. {I checked.}

But I think it’s better that it doesn’t. Because I need to be willing to intentionally set aside that time each day to focus on growing in my faith and learning more about what should be the most important aspect of my life. The thing that defines every other role in my life–wife, mama, daughter, sister, friend, student, pastor’s wife, mentor… Without being distracted by the driving in the car, exercising, or fixing breakfast.

I have never used a formal system before as I’ve read through the Bible. I’ve basically just started at Matthew and kept on going. :-) {When I was in 6th grade, my pastor suggested that I start with the New Testament and then go back to the Old, so that’s been my typical approach up to now.} So I’m excited to join together with a group of fellow believers–and fellow bloggers like Alyssa, Toni, and others–for an intense study that will surely bond us closer together and enrich our knowledge of our faith.

I can’t really imagine adding another thing to my plate during my last semester of nursing school. But I also think there’s nothing better I could be committing myself to during my last semester of nursing school. Especially after I read A’s comment on Kristen’s post, I know more than ever that I need that foundation. In fact, I crave it. For the people I interact with each day. For my family. For myself.

So I’m throwing my hat in the ring and saying I’m in. How ’bout you?

Katie is a pastor’s wife, a stay-at-home mama of one little munchkin, and a part-time nursing student. Her family lives in a little cabin on a farm in Kentucky. Katie has been blogging since 2005, and she shares fun and thrifty talk for a well-managed home at her latest project, Frugal Femina.

Just wanted to add you actually can find the audio version of Bible in 90 Days on iTunes. Although I completely respect wanting to delve into the reading…if someone wants the alternative it is available. :)

I would really like to read the Bible in 90 days. I have not purchased my book yet. I do have a question though. I do not go on Twitter. Is there any other way to follow along?

Trudy–Yes! You can definitely still be a part of our online reading community even if you don’t use Twitter.
I will post comments from the reading and some encouragement online at MomsToolbox.com 5-6 days/ week during the challenge.
I’d love for you to read what I learned and leave your own comments… after you’ve read the Bible, of course. :)
