Bible in 90 Days: Day 25 Check-in

January 25, 2010

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

If you are participating in the Bible in 90 Days challenge, today you are on Day 25 and should have read through the end of page 300 in the Bible in 90 Days Bible or through 1 Kings 16:20.

How’s it coming? It’s been almost a month and, although you’ve got a great new habit forming, sometimes things can get tough, so don’t get discouraged if you are slipping.

To give you a bit of encouragement, today Connie from Smockity Frocks is going to share a few of her experiences with the Bible in 90 Days. She shot this last week, so, although she refers to a different date, I’m sure she is up to date now… Right, Connie?

So, how about you? Where are you in the reading? And where are you doing your reading?

Also, don’t forget to swing by and listen to Jack Modesett Jr.’s week 4 audio message.

Please leave a comment or a link to your own post below to let us know where you are in the reading and any observations you would like to share.

My post for Day 25 is here, if you’d like to take a look.

Then, please pick two or three other commenters and pray for them by name.

And, of course, don’t forget to join us for our Tweet-Up tonight from 8-9 CST. Just follow me and use the #B90Days hashtag.

Don’t worry if you aren’t up to date… you won’t be judged, but you will be encouraged and lifted in prayer. Just look at your schedule and see what changes you can make to get caught up. You CAN do this!

For more encouragement, swing by last Wednesday’s post, Bible in 90 Days- Please Don’t Give Up. There are some fantastic comments there.

Wow what a testimony – gathering people to you to read with you! The noggin quote tickled me.

I think the men lurk the #b90days thread. The first week a few tweeted, but that’s about it.

Aaargh, the same thing has happened with Mr. Linky as last week with my link not working (it adds an extra ‘-’ in my link after it is submitted, so it’s a broken link!!). So I will put my blog update link here again:

I’m on track! :) I am eager to see Connie’s video! Will have to check back for that later – kids need me to get off the computer right now!

I’m up-to-date with reading so far. Though my husband started a couple weeks after us with reading, he is up to date for where he should be as well. It hasn’t been easy. We both find that we are up late at night completing our reading for the day. Because we are both reading, it has been fun to talk about some of the things we read.

I love how down to earth Connie was in her video. Thanks for sharing, Connie.

Still on track with reading and I am really enjoying it. :) I haven’t been following along with the audio messages, but keeping my own notes as I go along and do my weekly summary.

My daughter and I are up to date. I really really enjoyed reading about David’s entire life. I have never done that and I read many incidences that I had not heard preached before. It got me interested enough that when I am done with the 90 days, I plan to go back and study his life in depth. What a man of God he was, but boy he sure messed up a lot! I also have a bunch of questions about some decisions he made and how they line up wit God’s character, as they were things I did not understand. Like telling Solomon to kill the man who threw rocks at him and cursed him when earlier he had forgiven him.

Both David (my DH) and I are still on track with our reading–truly an act of God’s grace as we have 5 little ones at home! :)

Thanks to Connie for sharing her video; I loved hearing how her reading encouraged other moms to pick up their Bibles and read too!

I am not finished with today’s reading yet, but am on track. It is getting a bit harder now to set aside the time. The things I replaced with the reading (like time online and time reading fiction) are sneeking back in, resulting in other things (like cleaning and paying attention to my children) are getting pushed out of the way. However, I am going to try to refocus and get my priorities back in line. That’s one reason I wanted to do this. I know my priorities can easily get off track, but by God’s grace I pray I will be able to stick with this and that doing it for 90 days will refocus my priorities for the whole year!

On track so far. I enjoyed Connie’s video, and agree with her about taking your Bible with you. You never know when you will have some extra time. I was reading mine last week at a restaurant while waiting for my cousin’s family to come meet me. I put it back in my purse, and later, while I was reading something to the 2 y.o., he knocked over my coffee. Guess where some went. Let’s just say the edges of my pages are now sepia colored! My “Bible in 90 Days” now has the “well-used” look. I guess that’s a good thing.

I’m on track – can’t believe we’re on page 300 already! It’s been so great to read every morning. It’s a great routine to get up early every morning and read. Thanks for the challenge and encouragement.

I’m a bit behind, but will be caught up soon. The stomach flu visited our house last week and I got a bit off track (but I did do a TON of laundry!) Thanks for sharing your insightful “SOAP” messages each day….so encouraging!

I’m caught up. Keeping the Bible on the kitchen table today motivated me.

I am just a wee bit behind… maybe… 10 pages or so? I almost got caught up over the weekend, but a toddler with an ear infection+boot camp+other family stuff interfered.

I guess the good thing is that I’m no longer falling behind – I am actually catching up! And, I’m feeling very optimistic about finishing on time.

17 Anne-Marie January 25, 2010 at 5:30 pm

I was ahead, but now am about a day behind. A few pages here & there and I’ll be caught up or further before long.

I had a bit of a snafoo last week but am happy to say that I am back on track! Yeah!! I can’t believe that we are almost a third of the way through!

19 Sherry January 25, 2010 at 7:24 pm

I’m not finished with today’s reading, but I’m getting ready to go and start in about ten minutes, just finishing a few last things online.

I usually do my reading on my sofa. Depending on day, either first thing in the morning or about 7 pm. ( I work outside the home early mornings a few days a week)

The last few days have been great, David is one of my favorite Bible heroes!

I was a couple of days behind, but I got all caught up today at my marathon doctors appt. (2 hrs.!) today.

Thank you, Amy, for keeping us on track!

21 Tiffany McFarland January 25, 2010 at 9:15 pm

Here and caught up Thanks Amy :)

22 Kristin January 25, 2010 at 9:58 pm

I’m on the last few pages for today so I’m pretty much there. It’s tough right now but I’m doing it and very glad. Thanks for the tweet-up tonight. Really enjoyed it!

23 Julie January 25, 2010 at 10:40 pm

I’m on track. I fell a little behind last week, but was able to catch up. I’m enjoying the reading and finding new things all the time, plus lots of things that make me wonder . . . .

Thanks for encouraging us!

24 jenb January 26, 2010 at 12:35 am

I’m on track. But is seems hard to get into reading last wk. Twice I’ am about to read the Bible (the Bible is already open and I’m ready to read) but I will end up doing something or reading something else.

25 Lyn @bellebearberry January 26, 2010 at 9:10 am

I am sliding behind – I am still motivated to catch up though. I need to type out my SOAP – I am currently just doing it manually – but it makes me feel even more behind.

26 Cher January 26, 2010 at 10:22 am

I finished Monday about 2 chapters ahead. I tend to fall behind mid-week and catch back up over the weekend, so I decided to just keep going if I have the time and the attention-span even if I am ‘up-to-date’.

27 Cheryl January 26, 2010 at 11:23 am

Thanks for stopping by. I am still behind, but slowly catching up. I’m not even sure how far behind, but I will be working on it. :-) Even my husband is reading along with me.

I forgot to check-in yesterday, oops! :) But I am on track with my reading. I updated my blog today. I am reading a little ahead each day this week, because we have a family wedding this weekend, which is going to be really busy.

29 kriswithmany January 26, 2010 at 4:39 pm

I am back on track! I new to post a blog update – that didn’t happen last week. I think I’m starting to get a routine. This has been a wonderful way to start out the new year!
