B90Days Group 35/ Leslie

Welcome to your group’s check in and communication page for the July- October 2011 edition of the Bible in 90 Days!

Your mentor is Leslie.

Leslie completed The Bible in 90 Days for the first time in the Spring of 2011. She is a stay at home, homeschooling mom to 4 young children and enjoys watching her children learn from the world around them as well as with fellow homeschoolers. Leslie blogs through the B90 experience at Going through The Bible in 90 Days!

Each Monday you are required to visit this page and share where you are in the reading. To do that, leave a comment sharing where you are in the reading (i.e. “I am up to date in the reading,” or “I am up to Genesis 18,” or “I am 4 days behind.”).  After you share your reading status, consider leaving an encouraging comment on someone else’s entry. To do that, click on “reply” under their comment add your comment and your comment will be linked to hers (or his).

This page is a place for your group to connect, pray for each other and hold each other accountable. When you leave your first comment, consider checking the box which says “Notify me of follow-up comments” and fill out the subsequent form. This will enable you to get an email as new comments are added to the page and help you to keep up with your group that way, if you would like.

If you will be unable to check in one week, please contact your mentor directly so that she will know. Also, if you decide to drop out for any reason, please also let your mentor know so we can remove you from the group.

This page will keep all of the comments from the entire session. Newer comments will display at the top.

Thank you for reading with us! I hope you find it to be as amazing as I have every time.

Okay, enough of me… now it’s your time to share.

Sorry, I’m a day late checking in-better late than never :)
    Up to date!

So far I’m doing great and up to date! Can’t believe we’re over 2/3 way through!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

Evening, everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful start to the week. How exciting that we’re getting so close and that we have people finishing!! YAY!!!

I’ll admit, I’m a day behind right now. I stayed up late last night putting together everything I needed for our first day of our homeschool co-op classes today, and was just too exhausted by the end to read. But, as soon as I post this, I’ll be off to read 2 days worth. It’ll be a great end to a wonderful (yet busy and full) day.

Only a few more weeks, ladies, and we’ll be crossing the ‘finish line’ for this program! And the beauty of it is….that’s just the beginning!!! Hang in here with us as I can’t wait to cheer everyone on as we celebrate reading through God’s Word, cover to cover!!!

  • Angie

How exciting…those of you who have finished! Way to go!

We were on vacation so that is why I didn’t post last week. 10 days away from cyberspace…good for the soul! Read a couple of wonderful Christian based books. Took my Bible along but just struggled reading it. That’s okay, God knows what we need when we need it. I finished up the Psalms on Saturday and though that is one area of the Bible I had read many times, it was fresh and relevant and so enjoyable. Grateful to now be almost finished with Isaiah. I have struggled through it.

I see that we should be starting Daniel today and that gives me great motivation to keep pressing on to get to one of my favorite books. Trying to enjoy the journey and take it all in.

Encouraged to see Nellwyn already finished! I am behind but will finish, even if not on 90 exactly.
Learning so much but do get stuck on some parts that are harder. Have found that it is important to not read my ‘Life Application’ Bible as I easily get side tracked with the notes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

It is finished….I was trying for 60 days and finished in 61. I think that’s close enough. LOL

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

WAY TO GO!!!! CONGRATS!!!!! It’s a wonderful feeling to make it all the way through, and how awesome that you finished more than 2 weeks early! I pray it has been and will continue to be a blessing and a motivator to you as you continue on your walk with the Lord. Definitely keep checking back to momstoolbox.com as Amy will want all those who ‘graduate’ to message her when the 90 days is over. Congrats again!!! :D

    • http://www.momstoolbox.com Amy @ MomsToolbox

      Wooo-Hooooooo!
I am so excited for you!!
Please keep checking back on the main page, though. Pretty soon I’ll ask for finishers to send me a bit of info so I can list you, as well as a few other things.
      FANTASTIC!!!

    • http://profiles.google.com/tkwilson8 Kristi W

      Awesome!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

It is finished….I was trying for 60 days and finished in 61. I think that’s close enough. LOL

  • Beth

I’m trudging along, still way behind, but still reading. Thanks for your encouragement!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

Totally understandable with everything else you do. I just find that even one scripture sometimes jumps out at me and I spend a lot of time just reflecting on that one….THAT’S wonderful encouragement right there! But I have most definitely gotten behind as well due to that and just life. I have no doubt that you’ll make it through!

  • Lynnag

    Just a day behind!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

That’s wonderful! A day is very easy to make up when you just have a spare few moments a day, or on the weekends. :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

On day 82 today. I should finish this next week. :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

      AWESOME! Way to go!!!!

    I’m up to date!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

Hello there everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful Labor Day weekend. We just officially started our homeschooling year today, though we’ve been continuing to work through the summer, just not as heavily.

I hope everyone is finding the time to read, and that it’s getting easier as you go along to sit down and just do it. If you’re still struggling, just maybe cut back a few pages a day and make up some on the weekends or any day of the week where you may have to wait somewhere for 20-30 minutes. Wherever you are with your reading, just keep on going!

As for my reading, I’m on track, but not ahead by any means. I’m lucky if I can get all 12 pages in most nights without interruption from one of the kids, but I do make sure to get it done either that night or catch up on the last few pages the next day. It’s a blessing, as always, to read through God’s Word!

Keep up the great work, group, and I look forward to seeing you check in here soon!!

  • Beth

Somehow I missed checking in on Monday. Thanks for the reminder Leslie! And for your encouragement. I am still way behind, but I’m still reading. I’m hoping when we really get our school schedule down that I’ll be able to catch up when my girls are reading and doing other bookwork.

  • Amanda B

Well last week was a poor week for reading. I feel that I effort wasn’t as strong as I had been doing and so I am already doing better this week. Sorry that I am late to post for this week. We are getting ready to go on a little family vacation and so I worked my 12 hr shifts at the beginning of this week instead and so I just ran out of time to post.

  • http://profiles.google.com/tkwilson8 Kristi W

Have forgotten to check in the last couple of weeks, only came to mind when I was not on the computer :o) I am a few days behind but still on the journey.

  • Angie

    I am behind by a couple of days…pressing on… :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

I totally forgot to post yesterday! :) Looking forward to getting out of the Old Testament! Today is my last day before I hit the NT and I think it will be easier from that point on…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

Cindy, glad to hear you’re up to date!!! I am as well and am LOVING the Psalms, Proverbs, Song of Songs and Isaiah. Definitely a bit of a jolt going from Song of Songs to Isaiah, but I’m loving every blessed word!

I hope everyone is doing well this week and getting excited about how far we’ve come. Already over half way through and things only get easier from here on out. Just 17 more days (if I counted correctly…if not, forgive me, Mondays are hectic here!) until we get to the New Testament, and time truly flies from there on in. Y’all are doing GREAT ladies, and I pray each of you are finding the time to sit and just read through God’s Word with us.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1367630388 Cindy Negrotto McDaniels

Hey ladies! I’m checking in and am currently up-to-date! Even if you’re behind, let us know okay?! And…keep reading no matter where you are!

  • Lynnag

I’m still hanging in there! Can’t believe we are half way through. Up to date on my reading. Hope everyone has a great week.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

EEP! I completely didn’t manage to get over here yesterday to check in myself!! OOPS! We had a fairly busy day around here, but all is well.

Just so everyone knows, we are on Day 44 today…which means…we’re HALF WAY THROUGH!!! CONGRATS!!!! While it’s the ‘Bible in 90 Days’ program, there are 2 grace days built in, so it’s really only 88 days. And this second half really does fly, especially once we get to the NT. I am loving reading the Psalms and hope you are as well.

Please let me know if you need any specific encouragement besides what you’ve shared here. For those not quite on track with us, it’s really not an issue. Not to me anyways. I just love that we’re all reading along together. :) Keep going and we will all cross that finish line!

    Leslie

  • Beth

Ok, I’m VERY behind! But I’m still reading. Thanks for your encouragement! I’m hoping that starting school will give me some stability in my schedule and help me carve out a consistent time.

  • Angie

A bit behind…enjoying being in the Psalms!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1367630388 Cindy Negrotto McDaniels

Am enjoying the Psalms! I’m on track and up-to-date!

  • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

Finished Day 51 today. Have gotten totally confused about where I “should” be. LOL What day are we on? I think I’m ahead…I just try to add a few extra pages whenever I have a chance.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1367630388 Cindy Negrotto McDaniels

Today is day 43 so you’re pretty far ahead!

      • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

I actually did this a couple of times last year and so to change things up a bit, I’m reading a Chronological Bible. I went through and divided it into 90 sections, and have been reading a section a day. (or more). So I’m never really sure where I “should” be, but I finished the 51st “section” this morning. :)

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

WOW! Way to go!! Just keep reading, and you finish when you finish. Some people do finish early, and there’s nothing wrong with that!

  • Amanda B

Still massively behind but still pushing forward. I did get more reading in this last week then I did the previous week though. For a first timer, I have to say…..these readings are tough. I am learning so much though.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

It’s wonderful that you’re still reading, no matter how far behind you are. I definitely agree that the Old Testament readings are very tough to get through, but I think you’ll find once you get into the minor prophets and into Psalms and such, it will go much faster, and when you get to the New Testament, it just flies!!! Hang in there and we’ll be here to support you no matter how long it takes!! :)

  • Beth

I’m still here, but getting farther behind. I’m not giving up!!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

So happy to hear that you’re not giving up!! I know there have been a few times I’ve gotten behind, and I just remember that the number of days it takes doesn’t matter to God, just that we’re in His Word and making the effort with everything else He’s called us to do in our lives (which in your case, is a lot of wonderful and amazing things!!!). I’m just glad that you’re still hanging in here with us. :)

  • Angie

I am up to date. We had a great week of school and keeping up with my reading fit in just fine. Praises!

Glad to be over the hurdle of some of the toughest reading.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

WONDERFUL!!!! Congrats for keeping up with your reading and with school! Definitely a task, I know. Keep up the great job!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

Hello ladies, and welcome to week 6 of this B90 session! I’m so happy to see you ladies here still hanging on, even if you’re behind. I really can’t say enough how little the actual numbers mean (88 or 90 days, etc), but rather that we just need to find ourselves getting into the habit of being in His Word and taking this time to read through the entire Bible, cover to cover, to get acquainted with the awesome Word of God!

I hope each of you has a wonderfully blessed week and that you find times of rest and quiet this week to continue reading.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1367630388 Cindy Negrotto McDaniels

I’m current with the readings. Some of it I get kind of lost in and have to re-read and it still sometimes doesn’t make sense but I’m still reading!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

Oh goodness, that’s what I tried to do the first time around and it took me closer to 2 hours some nights to read because I just didn’t understand. I finally came to a compromise with myself that I would get through it and just understand what I could at the moment, then would go back later on, read through again and try to work it out then. That’s what worked for me, but each person just has to figure out what works best for them. And, yeah, this is my 2nd time going through the B90 program and I still don’t quite understand it all, but each time I go through it, I understand more. :)

  • Lynnag

Checking in. Got a little behind over the weekend but was able to get caught up last night. My daughter starts school tomorrow so we’ll see how that impacts my reading :) Hope everyone has a great week!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

Praying that school starting doesn’t hinder your reading. Once you get settled into a routine, it usually helps to keep that time set apart, whenever that may be. I hope they have a great time at school and may the Lord go with them. :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

Weekly check-in. I’m one day ahead…”whew”. I got behind last week, but caught back up! :)

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

      Awesome! Way to go!!!

  • Michelle W

Weekly check-in and I’m behind! We’ve been on vacation for a week but I’m not giving up. If needed, I’ll catch up during the 12 hour drive home! I remain committed!!! Hope everyone is doing well & hanging in there!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6MHSDNYKJRR7CLZTOPGX6H4Q3A Leslie W

No worries, just keep on as you can. How awesome that you’re committed to doing this for GOD!!! And he doesn’t have a time limit…just all the love and grace you could ever imagine!! Have a safe trip home!

  • Michelle W

My bad! I forgot to visit on Monday to check-in. I was current on Monday & should still be current if I keep reading tonight! It’s my birthday so we’re going out to celebrate – woot!

  • Amanda B

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I worked a 12 hr shift and by the time I got the kiddos to bed I was just too tired to hop online. Oh and I had the great idea that I would bring my bible to work and read when I had any down time. (unfortuantely there was no down time yesterday). Anyway, I ended up forgetting my bible at work and so I didn’t get to read before bed (which seems to be my best time to get some reading in) :/

So, I will be making a stop into work today and try to read 2 days worth today. I am severely behind and I don’t think I will have any chance of finishing on time but I am going to keep reading and hope to finish not too far behind everyone else.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

So sorry that you haven’t had any downtime to read at work…and that you left your Bible there and couldn’t read last night!! That totally sounds like something I would do. I have to be sure to put my B90 Bible in the same spot every night after I read or I’d lose it. Either way, don’t worry so much about counting down the days, just read what you can when you can and we’ll be cheering you on whenever it is that you do finish!!! :)

      • Amanda B

Thank you Leslie. Your words of encouragment are a lifesaver!

    • Angie

Amanda – if it helps, either at home or at work, you can read online.

      http://www.biblegateway.com/

My daughters and I read together last time and we did every bit of it online.
Proud of you for your perseverance!

      • Amanda B

Oh that is a great idea. Thank you so much for the link!

  • Rebecca R

I am behind again! We went out of state this past week, another mini vacation, and I went to bed each night so tired! I am working on getting it together again though!

  • http://thenittygrittylife.blogspot.com/ Marcee Rodgers

*sigh* I haven’t picked up my Bible since we left Texas. We’ve been here one week today and I am exhausted and overwhelmed. I am going to start up tomorrow, but am not sure if I will catch up to finish in 90 days:/

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

And that’s totally ok. 90 days isn’t some magic cut-off mark where you’ve ‘lost’ or anything. It’s just a goal that this program has set. Life circumstances change and you feel free to adjust your goal accordingly. 6 pages a day….or even just 3. You WILL get through the entire Bible before you know it! I’ll definitely be praying for you to be able to rest and have some quiet time to read and be refreshed in spirit!

  • Angie

I am finishing up 2 Kings and will start 1 Chronicles tomorrow. We started back to homeschool today so life will be a bit busier. Please join me in praying for a great flow to our days.
    Thanks!
    Angie

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

Angie, I’ll absolutely be praying for smooth days during the school year. We homeschool as well, though we won’t be starting up our full swing until after Labor Day. :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/nellwynb Nellwyn Carpenter Blackmon

Well…I’m not behind, but I used up my “cushion” last night and today. So I need to get back on track and make up some more days. I had a bicycle wreck yesterday and just haven’t felt really that great. But I plan to make tomorrow a reading/resting day. So hopefully I’ll get some days done.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry to hear about the bicycle accident and will be praying for a quick recovery. It sounds like you have a great plan in place by staying home and reading/resting tomorrow.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

Happy Monday to you ladies! Seems like a lot of people are missing today. I’ll be sure to send out an email here in a bit reminding everyone about check-in today. I’m so glad to hear that some of you, even if you’re behind, are just continuing to read. Some days you’ll realize that you have a bit more time and can just keep reading to catch up, and may even get ahead at some point. Right now, I’ll admit that I was only able to read 4 pages of yesterdays reading last night, so I’ll be adding the other 8 pages to tonights reading. My little girl is 10 months old and she’s been teething the past week and a half or so, and she stays up really late for some reason when she’s teething, so it’s been difficult for me to stay on track some nights. But, I will be caught up as of this evening with todays reading. Well, I’m off to put the kids to bed (after sending out a quick email) then I’ll be reading my 20 pages for tonight. I really am enjoying reading about the kings of Israel and Judah. It’s definitely a bit heartbreaking to read that so many turned away from God, but very interesting to keep track of who was king at what times. To be honest, though, I can’t wait to get to the books of the ‘minor’ prophets. So many great lessons there.

Have a wonderful week in The Word everyone, and please let me know if there’s any way I can continue to pray for you.

    God Bless!

    • Angie

Thanks Leslie for how you are encouraging everyone! Praying for you also as you journey with us!

  • Lynnag

I’m one day behind but still hoping to get caught up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1367630388 Cindy Negrotto McDaniels

Haven’t read today’s reading yet but will do it later. I’m up-to-date!

  • Beth

I’m way behind but I’m still reading. I’m in I Samuel and hope to get caught up this week. I’m so comforted by my Leslie telling me to just keep reading and add some extra, but not try to catch up in a day or two.

  • http://thenittygrittylife.blogspot.com/ Marcee Rodgers

Checking in a bit late-we just made the 2000 mile journey from Texas to Oregon! So happy to be moved back home. I am behind about 7 days and will continue to be behind until I get the house put together.

  • Cindy McD

I stopped getting the emails when someone comments so I’m commenting now just so I can check the box to tell it to send me the emails….

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1367630388 Cindy Negrotto McDaniels

Ummm, so if I login via facebook, it shows my picture…cool!

  • Beth

I’m behind again. I will start I Samuel tonight, and I hope to catch up while my little one is gone to camp.

  • http://profiles.google.com/tkwilson8 Kristi W

After being several days behind last week, I am now caught up and enjoying this so much. Part way through the week I decided that reading the Bible entirely in 95 days or 102 would be okay if I missed the mark of 90. It was a funny moment when I that thought, yes, it wasn’t a 90 or nothing deal :o) Last time when I attempted this, I quit when I fell behind and sure wish I did not give up.

Keeping going my fellow B90 day ladies!! I was able to catch up with a little extra reading each day.

  • Rebecca R

I am a few days behind. We went out of town for several days, and I was just so tired at the end of each day, it was a struggle to do anything besides lay there! lol But I have a plan in mind to get caught up!

  • Angie (Ragamuffingirl)

Hi All…I was going to get all caught up and post as such this evening but I am taking a break from reading to let you know I fell wayyyy behind last week…for those of you struggling, don’t get daunted. Keep pressing on and you will find yourself on track again or perhaps even ahead.

It was my goal this time through B90 to stay on track but in the joy of life, each day looks different. Last week was a great week of summer family time.

When I did this in the spring I was ahead, I was behind, I was on track depending on the day…but in the end I finished by the final date.

Keep pressing on enjoying your families and enjoying this precious time spent with the LORD and we will cross the finish line together!

    Angie

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1258098152 Leslie Terry Westenhaver

So glad to see everyone still reading along! I will admit that I’m half a day behind as I just could NOT keep my eyes open last night to read it all after mowing the lawn in 100 degree heat. But, I intend to catch up again tonight by reading those extra 6 pages.

    God Bless!
    Leslie
