B90Days Group 57/ Susan H.

Welcome to your group’s check in and communication page for the July- October 2011 edition of the Bible in 90 Days!

Your mentor is Susan H.

Susan H. became a Bible in 90 Days graduate in the Spring of 2011, and is thrilled to help moms find the motivation, time and support they need to achieve this fulfilling goal. She wears the hat of mom, step-mom, foster-mom and hopefully soon ‘adoptive mom’ of four children – 18, 14, 10 and 1 1/2 and shares it all with her very own prince charming.  Susan inspires moms to make small changes managing their home and family life creating more time, less stress and stronger family relationships at The Confident Mom. She also enjoys encouraging moms on Facebook and @ConfidentMom.

Each Monday you are required to visit this page and share where you are in the reading. To do that, leave a comment sharing where you are in the reading (i.e. “I am up to date in the reading,” or “I am up to Genesis 18,” or “I am 4 days behind.”).  After you share your reading status, consider leaving an encouraging comment on someone else’s entry. To do that, click on “reply” under their comment add your comment and your comment will be linked to hers (or his).

This page is a place for your group to connect, pray for each other and hold each other accountable. When you leave your first comment, consider checking the box which says “Notify me of follow-up comments” and fill out the subsequent form. This will enable you to get an email as new comments are added to the page and help you to keep up with your group that way, if you would like.

If you will be unable to check in one week, please contact your mentor directly so that she will know. Also, if you decide to drop out for any reason, please also let your mentor know so we can remove you from the group.

This page will keep all of the comments from the entire session. Newer comments will display at the top.

Thank you for reading with us! I hope you find it to be as amazing as I have every time.

Okay, enough of me… now it’s your time to share.

Please leave your comments below:

I am right on track. And…. so glad to be in the new testament. It’s hard to believe, but so exciting, knowing that in just under 3 weeks we will have read every word of the bible!!!!

  • KathyB

I’m finished with the book of Mark.

  • Brendadeibel

Thanks for all of you here in this group! I am sooo far behind and can’t speed read my bible another day, I feel as if I am getting nothing when I am reading it so quickly. I went back to rereading several passagse today several times and pondering them, and realized how much I missed this. Thanks for all the encouragement, but I am out this time around.

    On schedule!

  • Shelly Drew

I was able to fall 3 days behind this week. I did get to the NT though. I hope that makes it easier reading. Only 20 days left? Is that right?

    • http://www.facebook.com/jodi.hulst Jodi Hulst

My schedule shows 17 days…..either way, we are almost there!

  • Onebzybe

Well, I just finished Ezekiel. I feel like a slacker, even though I know that isn’t the case. I thought with the kids starting school it would get easier. Instead of being interrupted, I find I have fallen asleep while reading, only to wake up a couple hours later! (That was how last week went) This week, I start a part time job, my son starts his football game schedule, and my other son has patrol! I should be able to get back on track in no time! ¦)

  • Amy

Enjoying continuing on and devouring chapters at a time even though so very much behind everyone else. Loving reading everything in this collection of books even if my going is slow. Trying to catch up…sort-of. Feels like too much to do with homeschooling. Not many breaks, and I let myself off too easy during August.

  • KathyB

I’m up to Daniel 11. Still reading in my kids ICB. I love how Daniel says he fell into a deep sleep when he saw the Angel. I realized he was so scared he passed out!

  • http://www.facebook.com/jodi.hulst Jodi Hulst

I was about 2-3 days behind but I caught up over the weekend. I am about halfway through today’s reading. Heading out into the fall sunshine to finish for today.

  • Mandy_graybeal

I’m very excited. Last week at one point I was 6 days behind. I was able to get caught up and I”m actually one chapter ahead! For any of you that are behind – DON’T GIVE UP! Just do some extra reading and you’ll get through.

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

Keep saying that!!! Maybe someone will change their mind and stay with us!! So glad you were able to catch up Mandy!! And especially because you joined us late!!!

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

Keep saying that!!! Maybe someone will change their mind and stay with us!! So glad you were able to catch up Mandy!! And especially because you joined us late!!!

  • Khunnicutt

I have been behind all week and just got caught up this weekend!

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

YEAH, hopefully that will be my comment next week!

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

YEAH, hopefully that will be my comment next week!

  • Shelly Drew

here and one day behind… the usual. Next Monday we should be in the NT! Yay! Susan, you are doing a great job!

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

Thanks, I know I am looking forward to the NT also…

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

Thanks, I know I am looking forward to the NT also…

  • Kristine McGuire

I’m here. I’m behind again. Oh well.

  • Brendadeibel

I have gotten far behind too, but am going to try and catch up by next week, will see how this goes…

  • KathyB

I’m reading out of the ICB too. Much easier right now. Well, accept the small print! I am in Jeremiah.

  • Onebzybe

So I just finished Isaiah. It was so difficult for me, I switched to mt daughters New Children’s Translation to read it. I have to say, reading it in that translation made me want to read more! I am doing laundry and spending the day trying to catch up, by reading Jeremiah. School starts tomorrow for my kiddos, hopefully the distractions will be fewer!

    • Amy

Maybe I should switch translations. I’ve been reading the NASB and I have been finding it difficult. I read a recommendation of sticking with one bible, but perhaps it’s time to switch it up. Is the switch working out for you?

  • Shelly Drew

I cannot believe I am right on today’s reading! Tomorrow is another story though. I have to report to jury duty at 8:15am.

    • Onebzybe

Shelby, in my experience there is plenty of time for reading at jury duty. ¦)

  • http://www.facebook.com/jodi.hulst Jodi Hulst

I am about one chapter away from finishing yesterday’s reading and then will get to today’s. Have been running a day behind for awhile. This material takes a little longer to read through.

  • Amy

I am so behind I’m not even thinking of catching up anymore, but I do plan on reading all the way through still, it will just take me longer than 90…like a third longer. Should I try to catch up still? I’m thinking Bible in 120 days will seem attainable at this point. 90? I’d have to go double speed pretty much from here on out.

    • Onebzybe

I think that as long as you are committed to finishing, then you should keep going. Rewards abound for all of us….

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

I am here to say you SHOULD try to catch up – you may just amaze yourself and the strength you can receive from the Holy Spirit to help you find the time :-) You have put in the time already and even if you are behind, challenge yourself – you will feel amazing at the end – I know, I didn’t think I would make it last session since I was so behind, but I started reading at little bits every time I could.

      • Amy

Do you think an attentive skimming pace would work? It’s been taking me so long to read because I’ve been just reading every word (readings take me 1 1/2-2hrs). I think I need to pick up the pace if I’m going to do ANY catching up at all…

  • Khunnicutt

I am 3 days behind. Weekends, getting the kids ready for back to school, etc are making it difficult! The Old Testament is also difficult for me and it’s becoming hard to stay motivated, so please pray for me!

  • Mandy_graybeal

2 days behind – will be caught up by Friday. The weekends seem to get me every week – then I get caught up and then I fall behind. At least I get caught up…right!

    • Shelly Drew

You and I are in the same boat, Mandy!

  • Shelly Drew

Not sure why I forget to check in on Mondays, but I did it again. 1/2 day behind at the moment. I cannot imagine what it must have been like in Isaiah’s head.

  • Tiffany

I will try to catch up but I am loosing ground fast.

  • Susie

I am ahead by two weeks. I will not be checking in for the next two weeks as I may be away from my computer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jodi.hulst Jodi Hulst

At Isaiah Chap 8 right now, plan to be caught up by bedtime.

  • Kathy B

I am on track. Need to read today’s assignment.

  • Khunnicutt

My Bible is currently open to Isaiah 9…so a little behind, but am hoping to make it to Isaiah 29 by the end of the day today.

  • Kristine McGuire

Hi. I’m checking in. I’ve been behind (still am) but am tackling Isaiah and catching up. I have to say Isaiah has really caught my attention. I’ll be reading through and come to the section and be like “wow, really?”

  • Onebzybe

Hi! I am checking in. I just finished yesterday reading, so I am caught up. The weekends are hard to stay current for me, but that’s ok! I love that we are past the halfway point. I have never read all the way through Isaiah, so I am excited to see what it has in store. Keep plugging away everyone! In just over a month we will be done! ¦)

  • Kahlercrew

Checking in. In Psalms still(yikes). Im still gonna keep plugging away, but I gotta start studying for the bible study I’m gonna lead. Pray that I can catch up and that I will be able to finish in 90!

  • KathyB

i’m in ps 107 and will be current in a little bit. I’m pretty excited that we will be half way through in 2 more days. I have not been this far in the Bible ever!! =) I think it’s interesting that these current psalms repeat the history of Gods people. If we didn’t get it the first time we should now. And I keep hearing current songs we sing at church written here. So I get a little side tracked singing. =)

Oh one of my favorite names in the Bible so far is Bunni. Heman is pretty funny for me too. But Bunni is #1.

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

I haven’t caught that name – I guess I am not paying close enough attention! Funny!

  • Angelasmithrd

I am still behind but still plugging away!

  • Susie

I am reading ahead. My sister who lives inBolivia will be here next week and I do not know what will be on the agenda. I am reading Proverbs 21 now.

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

WOW!!! You go girl – superstar!!! Enjoy your time with your sister – you must not see each other very much.

  • Brendadeibel

Yikes, a week of vacation and I am behind, just beginning in Job, hoping to finish that up today. Then a couple hours a day of Psalms and I should be back on track :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/jodi.hulst Jodi Hulst

On vacation but so far staying on track. Have today’s reading to do.

  • Mandy_graybeal

Well I started the weekend up 1.25 days and now I’m down 2 days. :( I’ll be reading overtime to catch up this week. We had our first family camping trip (with a 1 year old), I used to read while camping…but it didn’t happen with a busy babe in tow. I’m going to have to figure that out!

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

You are brave! Yes, how taking a baby changes everything! LOL

  • Shelly Drew

I must enjoy the pressure of being one day behind! I catch up and fall behind by one day every week! :D David had to have been bipolar. For me Psalms is like reading the same Dr Suess book over and over and over and over. Kind of puts me to sleep. However, I am plugging through, and I’m still here.

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

So true, you are keeping your trend!

  • Kahlercrew

ok so am behind still. In psalms somewhere. This is getting monotonous…to me…not wanting to read at all….have lots of other things to starting reading and studying and don’t really want to spend my time doing this….sounds horrible huh?! :) gone try to catch up still….don’t know when….:/

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

I am sorry you are discouraged. It is a discipline to read – certainly and takes time. I can understand the desire to read something else! LOL I have my nightstand piled with other books, but I know God is wanting me to connect with His word. I will be praying for you, that your energy will be re-newed and you will be refreshed in His word.

    • Shelly Drew

Not horrible at all! This might not be the best timing for you to read the Bible with this intensity. Sometimes too much can backfire. If you don’t make it this time, you will try again. I bet Jesus Himself didn’t read the entire Pentatuch in 15 days like we did! Hang in there.

  • Khunnicutt

I am here and still plugging along. Psalms has been a nice reprive for me. Still have to do todays reading, but am otherwise up to date!

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

      great!

  • Onebzybe

Checking in. I was ahead all last week, because I knew I’d be driving kids back and forth to camp, in Spokane. But, now I am behind because was just too tired to read. Getting back on the wagon, and getting back on track today. Oh! And can you believe it!?! We will ne halfway through the bible in just 2 more days! I have never been this far in the daily reading process. It’s exciting!

  • Kristinemcguire

I’m here, I’m behind, but still plugging away.

  • Tiffany

I aam 5 days behind, just finished up Job.

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

You will ‘smoke’ through Psalm! What a nice breather!!!

  • Angelasmithrd

Even with the reminder to check in Monday, it is now Wednesday before I remembered to come check in–UGH! Sorry, I hope I don’t get kicked out of this program for my severe tardiness! Still about 10 days behind but not giving up–school starts tomorrow & school routines will get me “into the groove” & hopefully caught up soon!

  • Susie

Make that I am NOW reading in Esther. (Good thing I can read since I obviously cannot spell.)

  • Susie

Made it. I am not reading in Esther.

  • Susie

Made it. I am not reading in Esther.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jodi.hulst Jodi Hulst

I am about halfway through today’s reading. Will have time to finish before I go bed. Vacation starts on Friday and that will make the next week challenging. Don’t know if I will be able to check in next Monday or not. Plan to start my day with the Bible reading though.

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

Yes, vacation is hard. I love that you at least have a plan – first thing of the day!

  • Onebzybe

I am checking in! Currently on my trip home from dropping my sin, Jacob, at camp in Medical Lake, WA. It was a 6 plus hour drive over, and I am headed back. I am upto date… I read last night and this morning. I love that we ate nearly halfway through the bible!!!! Happy trails. Time to hit the road.

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

WOW, big drive Dawn – I am sure you meant “son” in your post – it gave me a chuckle though! Yes, encouraging to be getting through it!

  • Kristi-Anna

I can’t get caught up… I don’t even know where we are supposed to be… can someone PLEASE tell me where we are today? I’m still in Deuteronomy… altho I’m a few chapters from done. I know when I hit the books of History I will just fly!! :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/jodi.hulst Jodi Hulst

Today’s reading is Nehemiah 13:15-Job 7:21. Try not to get discouraged. I was hard on myself too when I was behind. I know you can do it!

    • http://www.theconfidentmom.com theconfidentmom

Sorry it is a tough time – Do you have a copy of the print out with the reading? That is the only way I can keep up, crossing off when I complete the day – I love crossing things off – a list girl at heart! :-)

  • Kristine McGuire

I’m checking in. A little behind again but plugging away.
