  1. I am about 1 day behind at the moment. I have read up through Genesis 41. By the end of today I will have completed Day 4 and hopefully some of Day 5.

I was a bit disappointed that I fell behind right at the beginning. However, I have found it to be easier than I thought it would be (if that makes any sense).

I have read Genesis so many times, but this time I am seeing things I never saw before. So exciting!!

I am on track, but behind on e-mail and comments ;-)
I LOVE this, I have never read the entire bible before, made commitments before but fell through – this time feels so different. I think before I always thought if I didn’t get to it today it would be easy enough to catch up the next day, now I know 24 pages is too much for one day so it keeps me accountable.
Reading all of genesis in 4 days was like picking up a good book and returning to you favorite characters each day. I teared up when Joseph died – that has never happened in my bible reading before
    Thank you for encouraging me

  3. I am on track and I am enjoying my morning routine more than I ever thought I would. I am not very good at sticking to goals sometimes. Forgot about the Twitter thing last night. I guess I need to figure out how to tweet.

  4. I am a little slow getting started but pure determination is keeping me moving…my hubby said it could not be done….with 3 kids a firefighting husband and a career it is harder than I thought but I will not let hime be right, lol.

I am on-track. I knew I had a big family celebration coming, so I started a day early. Sure enough, I got a day behind during our family visit, but that leaves me on track. I missed the tweet-up last night because 1- I have not yet learned Twitter (Thanks for the post with directions though!) and 2-I and my family are sick and went to bed early. I hope and plan to be there on Twitter next week though.

  6. a little slow, but coming along! It is definetly a great challenge for me!

  7. It’s going along a lot easier than I thought it would. I had to go back today and I found myself missing the reading….I had to wait until my break later in the day. When I was reading it in the early morning I found myself focused on the bible for the day. Having to wait til later…that didn’t happen.

    1. I’m the same way– if I miss it in the morning, I MISS it!

  8. I am up to date! Finished day 4 this afternoon. Genesis was a lot easier than I thought. I also had a revelation due to reading altogether instead of separate chunks.

I could have recited the story of Jacob and Esau and that of Joseph being sold by his brothers however I never had any idea that Jacob was Joseph’s father. How weird is that? Apparently that part never clicked for me. This time around it did. I am looking forward to all the other things that are going to jump out to me in reading the Bible this way.

  10. I’m all up to date! I am not a morning person AT ALL, so I was worried about my plan to get up early to read, but it really has worked well for me. I’m afraid if I tried to wait later in the day, I wouldn’t get it done.

  11. I finally caught up, tonight, with the B90 readings and what I’ve learned to do is basically split it up during the day; 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night.

I’m praying my hubby will be encouraged to join in with me and even if halfway, it’s a great incentive to encourage others in small group settings or buddy systems to re-explore later.

  13. So far I’m up-to-date on the reading and am really enoying this. This is exactly what I’ve needed for so long. Can’t believe I’m already through with Genesis!

  14. Just checking in. I finished Day 4 today. I need to try and get ahead since I have some hospital time coming up.

I’m caught up. Like others have said, I love Genesis, so it has seemed easy and quick so far. I know more challenging fare is coming, but I am eager to keep going.

  16. I am on page 32, headed to bed to read and get caught up!

  17. I am also a little bit ahead. I started a few days early to build in a couple of extra grace days! I’ll finish Day 7 tomorrow. I’m finding that I do best if I split the reading and do half in the morning, and half in the evening.

  18. A little bit ahead of the reading schedule. I have always loved the story of Joseph and Moses and so I kept reading a bit past the stoppint point.

  19. All caught up and ready to start Exodus tomorrow!

  22. It helps to have a pastor husband who can fill in a few details for me from time to time. I am enjoying this method a lot and definitely recommend it as a way to get the basics down quickly. It’s doable so far! :-)

  23. I’m up to date with my reading, but my blog posts are two days behind. I’ll catch up as able. I take sat. off to be with hubby and that causes me to be behind for a few days. Have a day off tomorrow, so I’ll be on top again. May not be able to join tonight, since that’s the time I spend getting hubby’s dinner ect. ready for him (he leaves at 9 pm) wasn’t wise enough to do ahead tonight.

  24. I am surprised how easy it has been for me to keep up with the reading so far. I finished day 4 last night. I love to read, but I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to “get into” reading the Bible. Was I wrong! I can’t believe how much I am enjoying it. It is very much like a novel.

Starting Exodus tonight. Wish I could join you all on Twitter tonight but I’m on a digital cleanse until the 8th. (Check my latest post for more info on that) I’ll be there for the next weekly Twitter night, though! I can’t wait!

  25. My husband decided to join me! We’re encouraging each other and having a lot of great discussions! As of right now, he has 2 chapters left in today’s reading, which he’ll finish sometime before he goes to bed. I’m all caught up. I’ve been taking notes along the way so I can do a blog post update once a week.

Genesis always reads more like a novel to me. I love reading about Jacob and Joseph!

I was planning to join the chat tonight, but it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to. Hope everyone has a great chat, though!!

  26. Just checking in to say I’m right on track! Just finished my Day 4 reading, and really enjoying it so far. It has taken me AGES to read it a couple of nights (like 2+ hours!) because I am so tired with lots of little ones during the day and the words can sink in rather SLOWLY at those times! I want to read them attentively like the Bible in 90 days website says, so I’m working on it! When I’m alert and not so exhausted, it is much much quicker. I am enjoying it either way at the moment, and it makes for some nice quiet cosy evenings for me, curled up on the sofa with my Bible! :) Mornings are far more exhausting for me and I would not get enough time to read – my little ones get up early!

I can’t join in the Twitter chats unfortunately, because I live in England and will be fast asleep at 3am when you are all chatting away! I wish I could join in!

  27. My husband and I are both on track in our reading (just finished Day 4) and are loving our time in the Word!!! (I think my reading through the Bible at a much slower pace–throughout the year–I never realized how exciting Genesis was!

Thank you again, Amy, for organizing this challenge!!! Will try to catch you all on Twitter tonight, but as I live on the west coast and have 4 young children, I may not be able to get away at what will be 7 pm PST….

  28. Your challenge came at the perfect time. I was wondering what my goal was this year spiritually and I think this is just what I needed to start the year off. I’ve read the entire Bible before but never so quickly. I can’t believe Genesis went so fast. I agree with an above poster – Genesis does read like a novel, though I wish there were more details!

  29. My daughter and I are right on schedule. Over the weekend I used the online NIV bible at Biblia.com during my breaks at work, and on the weekdays we use our NIV bibles. I have the 90 day bible on order but right now cannot imagine why it would make any difference. We are really excited to do this.

  30. On track so far! I am actually into Exodus a bit- I figure the farther along I am the better so I have a bit of padding for the harder books! It has already been so rewarding and I am really looking forward to the Twitter meeting tonight!

Thanks again for organizing this- it seems to have taken the blog world (or at least the one I’m in) by storm!

  31. I am on schedule. I enjoyed reading through Genesis, it has been awhile since I read straight through it. There is so much info in Genesis. I love it.

  32. I’m on target but I do need to do today’s reading. I had been doing it first thing in the morning but we’re back to our “regularly scheduled program” here & I didn’t leave enough time to do it this morning. I have no doubt I’ll have it done before bed. I’m really enjoying it!

  33. Can you help me out? I’ve been a Christian since I was 8, but things have always bugged me about Joseph:

    1) Why didn’t he send a messenger to Jacob in all those years to tell him he was alive? I tried to look on a map but maybe I just don’t have the concept of the distance.

    2) Why play the game with his brothers? Was it to be sure where their hearts were now and that they had changed?

Hmmm, I wonder if this should be saved for tonight. I’m sick so I don’t know if I can figure out the twitter thing. Maybe someone else could post them for me.

My bible arrived on Jan. 2, and I fell asleep on p. 34 last night. I have an hour and a half tonight while my kids are at wrestling so I’m hoping to be caught up by twittertime! Thanks for the great ideas, all.

  35. I’m on schedule. I find the “listen while you read” on the Bible in 90 days website really helps. In fact, the way it is read gets me excited to keep reading. It is word for word NIV, but just the way he uses this voice makes it come alive.

I open one tab for listening and one tab for the reading and follow along right on my computer. It helps keep me focused.

    Thanks again for the challenge!

  36. I started a day late and was worried about having to catch up. It wasn’t a problem at all!! I’m right on target, and since I also read at night I will be doing Day 4 tonight. I’m so excited to be right on track!

  40. I have been reading in the evenings, save yesterday when I read in the morning (I’ve been sick, so no church for me). I think reading in the evening really works for me. I am so excited to read the next part all day long so when I get to sit down and read it, it doesn’t feel like a chore! I am hoping this excitement stays around. :-)

I’m here to check in too.
I have read through day 4. I am using my own NIV bible, but it has no commentary and it lines up really well as exactly 10 pages per day.
It doesn’t take as long (so far) as I expected. It feels good to spend that much time in the word.

Checking in! I have been reading at night so I’ll catch up this evening! :-) I am loving it and surprised how supportive my family has been as I embark on this journey. My 5yr old came in last night and asked if I would read to him. I have quite a few questions and look forward to digging into those afterwards. I should start keeping a list! Thank you for encourging us to read with you and everyone participating. I appreciate your guidance and support.

  43. Loving it so far!!

  44. Happy to report that I’m right on schedule. I’am now starting to read Exodus.

I tried to order the B90 Bible and guide 2 days ago but was declined (maybe bec of my location – Im in Asia). So I bought a new Zondervan NIV thinline bible yesterday – this is the best available from our christian bookstore. I also attended sunday service yesterday. And during these 4 days of reading the bible, I find myself praying more and often – it became easy to pray.

I will say that already God is doing great things in my spirit. As I mentioned when I sign-up its been a long time (years) since I read any portion of the Bible and even long time since I last attended church. I’am so thankful for this challenge. God is using this to touch me, re-introduce Himself to me and give me faith in Him. To Ms. Amy of momstoolbox – thank you so much for your blog. May God, in His generosity, reward your efforts for expanding His kingdom.

I pray God will continue to touch me as I immerse myself with His word.
May the power of God’s word do great things to all of us who joined this challenge.

  45. Genesis really did read like a novel for me and well I am well into the beginning of Exodus and did not want to put it down this morning. That is good right?

I also wrote about how I am challenging myself on my blog today..which for most of you it might be an interesting read..as I am not sure where I am in connection to God.

  46. For anyone just checking in on my blog, I have taken up the challenge of reading through the entire bible in 90 days. Today is Day 4 – Wow, last reading in the book of Genesis. I’ve also committed on momstoolbox.com, to blog my experience and scriptures that have stood out. I’ve noticed and commented to my husband recently, how much drama is in the Bible in the book of Genesis. It was very interesting reading and very understandable. There is so much to learn from, especially others mistakes or harsh reactions. What I thought about as I drove my kid’s to school this morning is, we aren’t reading about people in God’s word who are perfect by any means. It’s easy very easy to relate. God was there then and he is there now, even when we sin. What stood out in my mind was if we have relationship with God and have formed a foundation, we will come back if we stray and most likely we will. We are human and we are sinners! This is so important for parents to know when raising little ones – to get that foundation solid. Well, I’m going to do my Day 4 reading soon. Just checking in. Happy Monday!! :-)

I just found out about this yesterday, ordered a few books last night and can hardly wait to get them and do this with my children. We are trying to keep up (starting three days behind already), especially since I don’t know how long it will take to get the books. I’m very excited! I’ve read through the Bible once but I’d like to make it a regular habit along with the indepth studies.
I’m so glad I found this blog!

  48. I switched my reading 2 day & tried the evening time. Seemed so much longer and I am rdef ready for bed. Will go back to morning routine2 morrow. I have a quick question though. What is a hashtag?

  49. I am cruising right along – actually – up to the end of day 5. I flew through gen – I had no idea it would read so much like a novel. It was really amazing to me. I am now in Ex – and it is not going as quickly, which also surprised me, since I studied it in depth last year. I had two verses really stick out to me in Ex – so I am trying out the SOAP – with the new sections. I do not want to read to fast and just have the “head knowledge” and not transfer it to the heart.
