Bible in 90 Days Spring 2011: Our first check in!

Oh my goodness, here we are on Day One of the Spring 2011 Blogging Through the Bible in 90 Days/Bible in 90 Days session and I am thrilled that you are here with us, jumping into the ENTIRE Bible together!!

Each Monday I will post a link to the week’s reading assignments and a week’s worth of SOAP Daily Devotionals from my reading.  I will also ask you to check in each Monday by finding your group number, clicking on it and following it to another page where you can share with your group how your reading is coming. I will also try to share other readers’ experiences in reading the Bible in 90 Days to keep you encouraged and help you stick to the schedule.

My two requirements for participation are that you:

  • do the reading yourself

and that you

  • check in by leaving a comment in the right spot here on MomsToolbox each Monday.

I also have a host of other tools to help with your Bible in 90 Days reading. If you haven’t read about them, I strongly encourage you to follow that  link and check them out… I want you to succeed!!

The Bible in 90 Days program is a ministry hosted in churches and communities all across the country. I was thrilled when Ted Cooper, the ministry’s founder (who facilitated the group I participated in to complete the Bible in 90 Days the first time),  allowed me to host a community on MomsToolbox last January. I have been amazed at how this online community has grown.

I based our program on the Bible in 90 Days’ Ministry program, with a few changes to accommodate our different needs, since we won’t be meeting face to face.

As part of our program I require that you check in here on MomsToolbox by leaving a comment with your group in the weekly check in post every Monday. If you miss two check ins and do not contact your mentor, you may be dropped from the program. I do not require that you are up to date with each check-in, just that you do check in and let us know if you are up to date or not.

(I know that may sound strict, but please trust me. This is our accountability tool and I need for you to honor it, even when you have to admit that you are behind. Just check in and move on. The we’ll all be praying even more so for you.)

Since we haven’t had much to read just yet, today I ask that you check in either by letting us know if you are up to date in the reading or share a few sentences about yourself and why you decided to join us. Find your group number, click on it and leave a comment on the page where it takes you. Many of you have not heard from your mentor just yet, but you will soon. If you haven’t yet,  please wait until you hear from your mentor and learn your group number to come back and check in. Check in will be open all week this time.

On Mondays, you may also link up a current blog post about your participation in Bible in 90 Days. Please also leave a check-in comment with your group, though, so your fellow group members will know about you. If you do link a blog post, you must also link from your post back to this check-in post so your readers can learn more about the challenge (and potentially join us!!)

Then, make plans to join us for our first Twitter party tonight from 8-9 CST. Be sure to follow the #B90Days hashtag. For more on Twitter, please read this post.

Today you should read pages 1-12 of The Bible in 90 Days Bible or Genesis 1:1- Genesis 16:16.

Follow this link to the Week 1 Reading Schedule for Bible in 90 Days as well as links to my SOAP Daily Devotional for each day.

  1. I still haven’t heard from my mentor so I don’t know what group I’m in, but I wanted to make sure I checked in! I’m staying caught up, and starting to feel like I can really do this. :)

  2. I haven’t heard what group I’m in. I got the email requiring a response and I did reply in time. Just wanted to let you know since you asked. ;o)

  4. I haven’t been contacted to be told which group I am in.

  5. I decided to join in today if I could read day one and two in one hour. I made it with three minutes to spare.

Hi…I signed up late on Sunday I think but I haven’t been assigned a group. I am up to date with the reading and keeping in touch via Facebook…which is great! Thanks for the encouragement and the idea…it’s really exciting!

  8. I don’t have my group assignment yet, but wanted to check in! I am 2 chapters away from completing Tuesdays reading and have gotten so much out of the reading already! Such familiar chapters in Genesis…yet something new everytime I read :)

  9. I do not have a group because I was late signing up, but I wanted to check in. I am looking forward to this. It will be my first time reading through the Bible.

  10. Sorry, meant to say I had read to wait, not in a post, but in the email notification that came from the sign up and requested a response, which i sent immediately. Sorry for confusion.

  11. I actually signed up using the form on dec 29. I hadn’t gotten any group assignment and was waiting a couple days to notify you as you had requested in a previous post. I have now read on your site that you sent some notifications to people who were not placed but i did not receive that either. I guess I fell through the cracks. I am doing the readings as planned and am excited. I am sorry this happened though as the groups were something that I was really looking forward to. So do I still check in somewhere or what? Sorry if I am a little confused.

  12. So…I’m late checking in, but I’m current on the 2 days of reading! I don’t have a group, but I look forward to reading through the Bible in 90 days. This will be my second time to read the Word through, and I love the 90 day plan.
    Blessings to all!

  13. I think I checked in at the wrong site yesterday….I have completed Day 1 and Day 2 of the reading. So far so good but am a little concerned what to do when my Bible study begins in a couple of weeks. I’m glad that I have this group to keep me going.

  14. Didn’t make it in time for groups, but I am excited to do the reading anyway. And I’m actually on schedule, which isn’t usually true. Looking forward to what God has in store!!

  15. I am late so not in a group but am so excited to be reading alone with you. Thanks so much for this support. If a group opens up for me let us groupless ones know. So excited for a new year.
