Bible in 90 Days: Week 6 (July – October 2016 Read-Through) #B90Days (And some thoughts on heartache)

Bible in 90 Days Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of the Bible in 90 Days with MomsToolbox!

Well, actually week 6 began yesterday, so do you think you can embrace the concept of grace with me here and overlook my tardiness in posting? I’d sure appreciate it!

Last week I got the sense that a few readers were having some trouble and getting frustrated. If you haven’t read my post What to Do When You’ve Fallen Behind in #B90Days and perhaps you’ve fallen a bit behind in the reading, please do click over and give it a read.

I want this to be an enjoyable experience… we have enough stuff in the world that can make us feel like failures. #B90Days should not be one of them.

So, please, keep reading. Keep going. And keep encouraging each other here in the comments, on Twitter– wherever. The comments from that last post sure warmed my heart.

So, let’s talk a bit about the reading shall we?

I don’t think this is going to be a spoiler, even for those who aren’t up to date. I apologize if it is. Okay, Here I go…

I’ve never been a fan of Job. It puzzles me.

Sunday and Monday, though, a few things reached through and made me take a new perspective.

At church this week, the sermon touched on the fact that this life is temporary. There is something bigger ahead of us. (I know, I’ve heard it a million times. But this time it grabbed me.) Then I came home to read all the awful ickyness of Job. And then I thought about the fact that as awful as all those things that happened to Job were, they were all temporary. And then I thought about frustration and heartache in my own life and in the lives of friends, and I thought about the fact that as awful as things may be, or may get, they really are temporary. Things WILL be better. We really just need to hold on, keep that perspective and still do our best to do our best.

Yes, some days that is MUCH easier than others.

An no, I do not understand why any of us are faced with tragedy and heartache. It’s awful. It’s not fair. But it’s there. And we have to get through.

Bigger, better stuff lies ahead.

Reach for that day He says “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and dust yourself off as best you can when you screw up or when the unimaginable comes into your life.

I think He wants us to know that He has us… or at least He wanted me to be reminded of that.

I hope that helps someone else this week.

Read on, my friends.

If you’re on track, we approach what I call that rich chocolate cake part of the Bible this week. Those Psalms can be pretty rich and filling. Reading one full hour of them can be tough for me. If you can break up your reading of the Psalms into smaller bites throughout the day, I suggest you do it. I find I’m better able to absorb all of the awesomeness that way. Too much at once overwhelms me.

If you aren’t up to date, make a decision to either get caught up by a magical day you select, or decide to keep reading an hour a day, if at all possible.

The secret here is to JUST KEEP READING!

  1. Still behind (2 weeks) and still reading something every day. Not going to quit and give up.

    1. I love that you are reading something every day! Keep it up!!!

  2. Still plugging along. Things are crazy at the moment so I’m breaking my reading into whatever times I can get it done. Thankfully I’m staying caught up because I don’t currently have time to catch up.

    1. Keep it up and hang in there. I’m glad you are still with us! :)
