Back in the saddle again… with a major score!

January 13, 2010

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Last October you might have read about my second rained-out MS 150 experience of the year.
Well, um, I am embarrassed to admit that since then my bike has been quite cozy in the garage.
But this morning, at the invitation of [...]

MS Alamo Ride to the River

October 12, 2009

I wrote this last Sunday and have intended to finish and post it almost everyday since then.
Well, it is still not finished (much like every MS fundraising ride in Texas this year) but the heart is still there (also like those rides).
And besides, today I officially move on to the next ride.
I’m now signed up [...]

MS Ride 2009: Take Two

September 28, 2009

As many of you know, my husband I signed up and attempted the 2009 MS 150 from Houston to Austin earlier this year. Except the first day was canceled due to weather and on day two I was only able to ride 26 miles due to terrible food poisoning. (Is there any other kind?) I [...]

6 weeks ’till MS Ride to the River. Gulp!

August 22, 2009

I have 6 weeks to prepare for the MS Ride to the River, a two-day, 175-mile bicycle ride from San Antonio to New Braunfels and back benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
This morning I rode and had a wake-up call to really get in gear so as to not be miserable for the ride in [...]

The sad tale of my 2009 MS 150 experience

April 21, 2009

This is me, ready to roll. Well, sort of…

The good news is that I am at my Weight Watchers goal weight for the first time in more than one year.
The bad news is that I didn’t get there the right way, so it likely won’t last. And, of course, how I got there is the [...]

Not such a good ride for me this year

April 20, 2009

I have a post about Sunday’s MS 150 ride half-written. I am just not in the mood to finish it.
I don’t like to admit defeat.
I trained. I prepared. I hydrated. And then I rode in the SAG wagon.
I (unknowingly) ate unwell the night before and then lost most of it after 26 miles at the [...]

We’re rolling!

April 19, 2009

Day 2 of the MS 150 is on and my husband and I are riding… Yippee!!
I need to be brief as we are leaving our house in a few minutes and I still need to get a few things together.
Sorry for no SOAP… I’ll be reading in the car on the way to La Grange.
Please [...]

I will praise God, even as part of the MS 150 is cancelled

April 18, 2009

Scripture: Psalm 34:1
I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak of his praises.
Observation: No matter what, I will always speak great things about the Lord.
Application: Today I am a bit down. The first day of the MS 150 has been cancelled due to weather.
I realized this is pretty minor in the whole [...]

Day one of MS 150 is cancelled

April 17, 2009

I am so bummed.
The weather in Texas is stopping the MS 150 this weekend.
Day One, from Houston to La Grange is definitely off.  Day Two, from La Grange to Austin, is still under consideration.
I am stunned and sad. And that’s all I have to say right now.
I cannot believe it.

My mom sent me over the top…

April 16, 2009

Ya gotta love moms.
I had set a fundraising goal of $2,000 for this year’s MS 150. Last year I raised more, but I decided to be a bit conservative this year, with the economy the way it is. (Not that MS knows anything about the economy, but I digress.)
I’ve been receiving emails from family and [...]
