Favorite Memories Friday: My beautiful bridesmaids

Photobucket

Today begins a new weekly feature on MomsToolbox: Favorite Memories Friday.

Here I invite you to reminisce with me as we share a favorite memory and get all warm and fuzzy about the gifts God has provided.

This week I have my wedding on my mind…

My husband and I just celebrated 11 years of wedded bliss.

I loved our wedding day, every single second of it. Really, I did. I loved seeing so many of my friends from different stages of my life together, being with my family and new family and, of course, I loved marrying my husband, whom I had been hanging on to and praying about for several years. But that’s another story.

One of my very favorite moments from our wedding was just before we cut the cake. We put tiny charms just inside of the cake for each bridesmaid to pull out. A dear family friend collected verses to go with each charm. On the cake table we also had photographs from our own parents’ weddings. That cake table was stunning… and not just because of what was physically on it, but because of what everything represented.

As all of my bridesmaids lined up behind the cake, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the moment.

Behind them were trees covered in tiny white lights and in front of them candlelight danced off of their champagne dresses onto their smiling, kind faces.

These women are women I truly love. I met each of them at different times in my life… one in elementary school, one was my first friend in high school, some in college, one as she married into my family and some as I got to know my would-be husband. These women knew me and were loyal friends. And they traveled from near and far to celebrate our wedding with us. What a gift!

I couldn’t have asked for more wonderful friends with more beautiful hearts. Standing in front of me I saw incredible women who had laughed with me and had comforted me through tears… or I knew they would in years to come. I saw snippets of my life in each of them and together they represented a story of great blessings, and a blessing just beginning.

Thank you, my sweet friends, for being there for me that day. I really appreciate you taking the time, energy, commitment, and love to be there with me so often in my life and also on my wedding day 11 years ago. I love you.

And that moment is, most definitely, one of my Favorite Memories.

Now, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear about one of your favorite memories. They can be silly or serious… anything G-rated that makes you smile. Please link up your own post below or share in the comments.

  1. I have many favorite memories from childhood, but one that stands out is a snow day. Mom used to let us stay home on the first day of snow because we lived in a northern state (her thinking was, we wouldn’t come to hate the snow if she created a positive association with it). When the snow got really deep she would make this ridiculous ice cream out of pure, clean snow and her homemade brownie recipe. It was amazing.

  3. I am going to have to check in today. I will not be on on Monday. I am not going on the internet through the week anymore. So, I am 2 chapters behind, and should catch up today. I am on Friday Psalm 43. It is going great! I have such a delight in the Word. What a neat fruit from this special time! Mandi

One of my favorite memories are the time I spend with my grand parents, I was literally raised by my grandparents and my grand daddy took me for walks in the near by forest explaining flora and animals. It was a very peaceful time and filled with love.

I had to think about it for while until I came up with a good memory, I have been in a state of mistakes, ugly, and maintaining.

  6. Life got away from me this week, but I’ll post a memory next week. Thanks for doing this!
