Group 34 Bible in 90 Days Check In

Welcome Group 34!

We’re so glad you are reading with us and hope your reading is going well. You’re group leader is Dana.

About Dana

I am married to my high school sweetheart and mother to two great kids that we homeschool. I enjoy reading, writing, running, cooking, and crochet. I successfully completed reading the bible and I am thrilled that I can work with others to do the same. My prayer is that we all find everything we need from God while reading His words that were written just for us.

I am way, way, WAY behind :( Like 2 weeks or more behind. Not quite sure how to catch up and feel a bit like a hypocrite in the group I am supposed to be leading (they know I’m behind but they’ve all stayed on top of things really well). Life here has been really crazy and i could make a million excuses (colds, travel, pregnancy, etc) but mostly it just comes down to my not making enough time to read each day. I could definitely use some prayer that I would be motivated to catch up and have the time and energy to do so.

I’m reading. Pray for me. I sent the details to your email boxes. Thanks!

I’m still on track, trucking right along. I never cease to be amazed at how this is changing me. So thankful for Moms Toolbox hosting this challenge!!!

      Congrats!!!

  • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

Happy Valentine’s Day!!! I hope you all are well. I’m feeling more like myself and loving Psalms. How are you?

  • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

I’m here. :o) You all can email me anytime. I am responding to your individual emails and I’m asking that you pray for a speedy recovery.

  • http://reshapingmyheart.blogspot.com Hope

Julie, don’t stress or sweat it! If you’re doing all you can, that is enough.

What do you mean about not feeling good about your standing in our group? I just realized that I’m not following you on Twitter, so I fixed that. ;) Sometimes it’s hard to feel like you “fit in”. I sometimes feel like an unheard voice shouting into a sea of other voices. ;) Let’s connect on Twitter!

      Thank you Hope!

  • http://www.dutchbeingme.com Julie

It’s been a while since I’ve checked in… really, really struggling right now. About 20 days behind now. Trying to read as much as I can throughout the day – but usually only amounts to about 7-8 pages, not keeping up on the 12 page schedule. :(

Alas, not feeling good about my standing in the group right now.

    • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

      Julie,

I’m going to email you. Please do what you can and don’t let the rest get you down. Also, please don’t let that stop you from posting.

We’re here for you. And I plan to stand by you whether it’s 90, 91, or months to complete. :o) Really…

      Dana

    Hey everyone,
I haven’t left any comments on here because it’s all I can do to just get my reading in.
But I’m enjoying it a lot. I have read through the Bible before but never so quickly. It really has helped me to have a set pace and have to check in each week even though I’m always a little bit behind. I feel like some things are clicking for me better now. I’m already thinking, I want to do this again next January or maybe even sooner! It’s so much easier and better for me then the whole Bible in a year thing. That way is fine but it makes it long and drawn out for me and then I give up somewhere in there and it never get’s done. I need a definite time frame that’s not too long and this has been perfect. Even though it has been really hard to keep up with the pace, it’s a challenge and I try to rise to the occasion on challenges.
I’m so greateful to the Lord for helping me to stick with it. It’s been hard but I’ve been in the word at least some each day since we started and I’m trying to learn as I go and meet with God, not just check it off on my to do list.
Blessings to all of you and I do pray for our group even though I haven’t checked in that we all finish this race together!
    Deborah

      Deborah,

It’s great to read your message. I believe a great portion of this challenge is time management. But it is also realizing that we really can do it. We are here with you. :o)

I have read through Ezra 2 so I am behind a bit. My plan is too complete Ezra and some of Nehemiah today – hopefully getting back up to speed before the weekend. =)

Never read through the Bible so quickly before and it is great reading large portions at a time.

    • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

      Amy,

I understand. Keep reading. I found myself reading at the oddest places this week. I’m almost back on track. All the meds had me sleeping like a baby. :o)

Email me if you need me.

      Dana

  • Shaun

Still behind, but am trying to read a bit each day.

    GUTS,
    Shaun

Ladies. I’m here. Cheering for your all. Please add my family to your prayer list. We were in a car accident. Our only vehicle was totaled. We’d appreciate your prayers.

  • Margaret

I had to play catch up this morning. I have been reading ahead earlier in the past two weeks (as I like the section of scripture) and once Friday hits (the beginning of the weekend for me) I always get behind. I am trying to stay caught up, but I also know the season of my life (an 8 month old…and planting a church) I need to give myself grace.

I don’t want it to become for me something for me to check off, but to rather meet with the Lord each day. I am simply focusing on my goal, to be in the word everyday. If I finish on target, that would be awesome, if not, I am going to keep reading and finish it on my own.

    • Trudie

Hey Margaret! I’m totally with you on that one! It seems I’m always a bit behind on check-in day after the weekend. I’ll catch up, and then the weekend hits. But like you, I’ve been trying to stay focused on the real goal and purpose of this for me. We are allowed to give ourselves grace, right? :) Oh, if I could only *really* learn that lesson!

  • http://reshapingmyheart.blogspot.com Hope

Hi, ladies!! All is well here. Staying on track with my reading. I got a little behind last week, but managed to sit down for a couple of hours Thursday evening and got all caught up. I feel great anticipation, the closer we get to the New Testament. :)

@Sonja: Hang in there! Do what you can, when you can. God will honor your faithfulness, regardless.

  • http://homeschoolblogger.com/homeschoolhighlites Amy

I’m just a day behind but I’ll keep my Bible open on the table all day and read between homeschooling!

  • Michaela

Still steaming ahead and having a blast.

  • Sonja

Unfortunately still behind and I’m not thrilled about it. I have to find a way to get caught up. Any who, I’m still trying to read some everyday and getting TONS out of it. Since I have never read, the bible straight through there is so much I have missed. I love noticing things I ‘ve never noticed before. Gonna get caught up sooner or later!

  • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

I am sooooo proud of you ladies. I feel like I’m having a proud mamma moment. You know…the ones where you are embarrassingly loud and somewhat obnoxious however your pride overshadows EVERYTHING!

I too have had a long week. Catching up, school, and so on. I’m blessed to have each one of you on this journey. I have noted your prayer requests.

Feel free to come here and post a comment during the week. I’m off to read. :)

  • trudie

Hey everybody! I am really missing out on the social/support part of this challenge. I just have so much stuff on my plate right now, my computer time has been devoted to work only stuff. Which is very unusual for me–good and bad, I guess. I hadn’t even noticed the comment section after the check in part of the page!

I fell a full day behind over the weekend, but I should be able to catch up. I have learned that I cannot leave my reading until the end of the day–I’m just too tired to finish with a clue about what I’ve read. I’m really struggling with attentive reading–I pray for a peaceful mind during my reading time. I’m also trying not to be so hard on myself about it. I’m still learning SO much more than I knew before and can actually discuss things in the Bible during Sunday School and our Wednesday night group–I could never have done that before. I started off wanting to blog/journal through this challenge, and I’ve had to adjust that expectation for this time through.

Thanks, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead.

  • Adrienne

I’m WAY behind. I’m having trouble finding time to read because I’ve been so tired lately (19 weeks pregnant & 2 year old…). I really want to catch up but can’t seem to just buckle down and do it. or I try and fall asleep. Prayers for energy and persistence would be much appreciated

    • http://homeschoolblogger.com/homeschoolhighlites Amy

You can do it, Adrienne! Split up your reading into two or three parts. I keep my Bible open on the table. Sit and read a few chapters when you can. God bless you :)

  • http://reshapingmyheart.blogspot.com Hope

Good morning all! I’ve been under the weather all weekend, but still chugging right along in my Bible reading. I didn’t read yesterday, but I’ll get caught up today. I’ll be so glad when this sinus crud passes! I feel like it’s trying to turn into a sinus infection. I would appreciate your prayers for this.

Hope you all are doing well this week!

  • Shaun

I have been backstage mom 3 nights this past week. I thought I could get my reading done. I am about 1 day behind!!! Just keep reading …. just keep reading. Thanks Dana!!!

    GUTS,
    Shaun

    • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

      You’re welcome. :o)

  • Margaret

I have stayed caught up with my readings for the past 15 days. I am so thankful that I signed up for this. Just knowing that I have to report to someone other than my husband whether or not I had my devotional time has been much needed and a blessing.

Last week was an interesting week with my son teething and taking short naps, each days reading time is a little different. I find I am able to get up in the morning earlier so I can get a head start or finish the readings before he has woken. This has been the one goal I have been focusing on for the last 2 weeks, so I am glad to see that I am getting off to a good start!

Praying each of you have a blessed week and the Lord meets you where you need Him to.

  • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

I’m proud of you all. Reading this week was difficult for me. My first week of school, three birthdays and our 12th anniversary. Needless to say I have been hanging on by the seat of my pants. :o)

Today, I’m spending sometime to get caught up. I should be find by tonight. I’m excited about this week’s reading I like reading about the kings and Ruth. So I think that will help me pull ahead a bit.

    How are you all doing?

  • http://reshapingmyheart.blogspot.com Hope

Hi all! Glad to hear you’re doing well. Can you believe we’re 2 weeks into this?! I’m very proud of myself for sticking with it. I have to admit that I truly didn’t think I’d still be hanging in, but I am! God is good!! I’m receiving so much more from this challenge than I ever hoped or imagined.

  • Sonja

Well I was up to date until yesterday, I do not like falling behind. I am going to try to catch up tonight. Still getting a lot out of the reading. I realized I have never read the bible this way. I have only piece mealed it out so to speak. It is very interesting and I’m starting to have many questions about Jewish history and theology. It’s very thought provoking.

  • Michaela

I looked up and I was in 1 Samuel…amazing, its really coming together and I can’t put it down.

  • Amy

Yay! Week 3 already- I am breaking my reading up throughout the day, doing most of it at night when the kids are in bed.

  • SueM

I’m still on track even with a sick household! I also had to skim over the building a tent and cubits….

  • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

Sonja – I understand. You should read today’s post. Amy shares a resource to help.

  • Shaun

Sonja – I noticed in your previous comment post that you are from Oregon. Me too! I live in Milwaukie. What part are you from? Feel free to email me privately at: shaunmartinez@mac.com

I have enjoyed my reading this week. Since I do most of my reading while waiting for voice lessons, piano lessons, swimming lessons and play rehearsal to finish, I have learned to cherish this time. Instead of anxiously waiting for the activity to be over, I am wishing I had more time :)

    GUTS~
    Shaun

  • Sonja

Staying 0n top of the reading and I’m still excited. Although I have to say parts of Exodus and Leviticus I just sort of skim over. :) It’s hard to read EVERY detail about how to construct the tent and where to put what and how many cubits high. I know there is probably some significant meaning behind it all but it nearly puts me to sleep.

  • Michaela

I am ahead but it has been a struggle. But I am staying with it so no worries.

  • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

I am on track. I read before but I am seeing much more this time. I’m sure that will be the case every time.

Each of you have been a joy to mentor. Reading your emails make me have a “proud mama” moment. :o)

    Keep reading and I’m here.

  • http://reshapingmyheart.blogspot.com Hope

How’s everyone doing with B90Days? I’m on-track and am gaining so much more from this than I ever expected!

  • SueM

Amy–just wondering where you are from. I hopped over to your blog and saw you mention WNY. That’s where I am–but about 40 minutes outside of Buffalo

    • Amy

Hi- I am near Rochester, about 5 minutes from Lake Ontario shoreline. Any other NY’rs in our group?

  • Adrienne

Hi I’m Adrienne, mom to one and one on the way. This is my second time reading the Bible in 90 days and I’m excited to see what God will show me. Last time through was so eye-opening! I got off to a little bit of a slow start but am working on figuring out how to get each day’s reading done.

  • Margaret Knox

Hi all, I am Margaret. I am excited about going through the Bible in 90 days. I have a 7 month old, so I am taking this opportunity to be held accountable to have more consistent devotionals as they have been lacking since he was born. I have finished the first 2 days of reading.

Praying the Lord speaks to each of our hearts exactly what we need each and every day of this journey.

  • Neva P

Hi my name is Neva and I am a mother of two who works full time. I am excited about the next three months. I look forward to reading with you guys and hope to be an encouragement as well.

  • SueM

I am making time for my reading right after the kids get onthe bus but before I start anything else. Nice way to start the day….

  • http://www.thehomeschoolmarm.blogspot.com/ Sharra Badgley

Hello and blessings Group 34! This is my first time participating in this study and also the first time I will have read through the Bible in 90 days. I am pretty excited to start the new year off with a great focus on study. I look forward to sharing fellowship with you. May the Lord bless you in your studies! My family is also following the schedule and we are making this a family study.

    Blessings to each of you!
    Sharra

  • Shaun

Hello Group 34 friends! My name is Shaun. I am a wife, mom to 2 boys (15 and 8) and a kindergarten teacher. I excited to how God will work in my life through this experience.

    GUTS (God’s Up To Something)!

  • trudie

Hi everyone! My family just moved this past weekend and we don’t have internet access hooked up yet–I’m only using my phone and I’m a little slow on the communication side of things right now. I just lost my whole introductory message–again! But know that I am here and up to date. :)

  • Sonja

Hi, I’m Sonja from Oregon. I was so excited to get started this morning and I am looking forward to tomorrow. I have always wanted to delve deeper into God’s word because I believe it is alive literally a living document that speaks to us today. I just hope I can maintain this enthusiasm in the weeks to come. I think having a goal or challenge before me is part of what is making it so exciting as well as knowing you all are along for the ride.

  • Deborah Freeman

    Hi Everyone,
I finished my reading for day one this morning. It was good. I have read this passge many times before so it seemed a little bit hard to get through.
But, I’m looking forward to reading the whole Bible through. I have read it before but never so quickly. It will be good to get an overview of the whole thing.
I will be praying for all of us to have the grace to complete the task set before us but also to feel the presence of the Lord as we read.
    Blessings to each of you!

  • http://www.dutchbeingme.com Julie

Oops and I just realized I was supposed to introduce myself. :)

I’m Julie from Michigan. I’ve attempted to do the Bible in 90 days before here, but have not been able to complete it. I’m hoping that this time around will prove much different for me.

  • http://www.dutchbeingme.com Julie

Just finished my Day one reading… hopefully the next few days I can get it done a little more smoothly than today! I’ve read this so many times before… and it just felt like work. On to tomorrow…

  • http://homeschoolblogger.com/homeschoolhighlites Amy

Hello friends in Group 34! I’m a homeschooling mom to 4 in upstate NY.
Looking forward to hearing from you all in the weeks ahead.
Finished the days reading — I love Genesis.

  • Michaela

Hi everyone, this will be the first time I will read through the complete bible. I have finished my first day’s reading, early, usually i would be at work at this time. I am very excited, I felt like I was in a movie when I was reading the first day, just awesome. I will pray for everyone as we continue our journey together, please pray for me as well.

  • http://www.danapittman.com/blog.html Dana

Hello Everyone! I finished my reading and you all should have your email from me. I can’t tell you all how exited I am to join you on this journey. I will check back today and respond to your posts.

  • http://reshapingmyheart.blogspot.com Hope Wilbanks

Hi, to all in Group 34! I’m Hope and this is my first time reading through the entire Bible. I just finished my reading for Day 1. I don’t know why I’m surprised, but I’m amazed at how much I felt God speaking to me through today’s reading.

Praying for everyone in our group, that we will all successfully complete B90Days together!
