Lead me not into temptation. Luke 22

Today’s reading is Luke 22:39- 71. Here is what I heard speaking to me the most:

Scripture: Luke 22: 40

On reaching that place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

Observation:

Jesus knew what was ahead and He knew the disciples would need strength beyond their own capabilities to stay strong, so He instructed them to pray for that strength to remain on the right path.

Application:

I think He is reminding me, too, that I need to be prepared. I need to ask for His strength to keep me away from temptation and on on the right path, undistracted.

Prayer:

Lord, please lead me not into temptation.

Keep me from evil and guide me in keeping my focus and efforts on the path you have set for me. Blind me from all the distractions that so often jump out and grab me. Help me to find your focus and stay in tune with that. I need you to help me with this, Lord.

What about you?

What called out to you today?

Do you ask the Lord to keep you from temptation?

The verse that struck me in a fresh way from this chapter was v33 “But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.” Peter was so sure of his committment, but temptation still overtook him. Yet, his failing did not stop him from fulfilling what God had planned for his life. Shows me we should never think we are outside of the ability to fall into any sin, and no sin disqualifies us from the renewal of grace and new path through repentance.
