Proverbs in 31 Days: Day 25, Proverbs 25: Stay cool not aggressive, to win

Proverbs in 31 Days with MomsToolbox
If you are reading with me, today we are on Proverbs 25. (Remembering what to read in the Proverbs is as easy as remembering the day’s date when you read them with me.) That being said:

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 25

Using the SOAP devotional method, here’s what I heard this time…

Scripture: Proverbs 25:15

With patience a ruler may be persuaded,

and a soft tongue will break a bone

Observation:

Be patient and choose your words wisely, being respectful, to win

Application:

Hasty, angry words will not get me what I want. To win, I need to take things slow and choose my words wisely.

Prayer:

Lord, you know all that is going on with me, that is for sure!

As I make my way through big negotiations and little, help me to remember this wisdom to be patient and choose my words wisely. Arguing with someone aggressively is not going to show me victory. Please help me to keep my cool and be strategic where I need to be.

I love the saying ‘you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.’ I think that is very much what you are saying here. Help me to be cool, kind, and patient even when I’m frustrated and want to yell. Help me to respect even those who oppose me and proceed in Your ways.

Thank you, Lord.

Amen

S – v4 Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel.

    O – dross – sin, silver – redemption, silversmith – God, vessel – me
When extreme heat is applied to silver and it is melted down, the trash will come to the top
and can be skimmed off and leave pure silver.

A – This is similar to a Christian. Sometimes God applies the heat (problems) to purify us from
sin through redemption. We are purged in the fire and made pure.

P – Lord, thank you for the difficulties that I am having with my children. I can now see that through this I will see my own sin (anger, refusal to obey in disciplining my girls, to do what is necessary to lead my children from their sin) and not just their sin. I want to be the vessel of your love and grace. Please forgive me and give me the strength today to take the action/steps in correcting my children. Thank you for this pressure/heat, that you love me enough to want to purify me so that I may be closer to you and continue in my walk with you. So that I may be a light for Jesus to my girls. Amen.
