Psalm 28: I trust in Him and he makes my heart jump for joy

bible-study-post

This one I love so very much. I’ve held it as truth for so very long.

Thursday morning, when I was sitting in the audience at the IBM Watson West event, about to go on stage, thinking about how excited I was for the opportunity to speak in front of the 400 or so in attendance and the many others watching on Livestream and the potential partners who might be watching, this verse rang in my heart and my head. I smiled broadly. My heart leapt. I knew I was going to be okay up there sharing my story. He would be right there with me.

Here’s what I heard in Psalm 28 (and so often echo in my head):

Scripture: Psalm 28:7

The Lord is my strength and my shield;

in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;

my heart exults,

and with my song I give thanks to him.

Observation:

He gives me the strength and protection I need and this fills my heart with joy, so much so that I cannot help but smile and thank Him.

Application:

I’m not a singer so much as a heart-bursting with joy thank-er, so I certainly hope my application is still pleasing to Him. I think it is.

He makes me smile. Yes, he even makes me giggle. I am amazed at how He leads me, guides me, and doesn’t let me down. I trust in Him and he helps me. He truly gives me the strength I need. I’ve had some frustrating times. I get impatient and irritated, but I also seek Him and ask Him to lead me. And He does. And when I see the fruits of that, I really have to smile and be amazed. He is pretty amazing. I am so thankful to be His.

Prayer:

Lord, this whole SOAP is a prayer.

THANK YOU so much for being trustworthy always. Thank you for being my strength and my shield. Thank you for giving me what I need and being there always. And thank you for those moments when my heart is so happy that I cannot help but smile, suppressing giggles at the joy I feel. Last week held so many of those moments. Thank you for bringing me to where I am. Please continue to guide me, showing me what my next steps should be. There is so much to do, or, at least in my mind there is. Please help me to go through it all, prioritize and do what YOU know needs to be done. Bring me the worldly help I need, Lord. I know with you, what needs to happen will. Give me your perspective in tackling my tasks ahead. Please be my strength and my shield as I make my way through all the steps needed.

I love you, Thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for this time together now and always.

In your Son’s name I pray,

Amen.
