Psalm 49: In the end, the one thing that matters is…

bible-study-post

Good morning from Houston. This morning’s passage is one that I think really needs to be read in its entirety to get the meaning. At least that was the case for me this morning. Part of the beauty of these personal conversations with God each day is that what stands out to me, the message He has for me, may not be what He has for you, though… so you might see this differently.

In any event, I do hope you take the time each day to read the entire Psalm and talk to Him about what He has in store for you.

This is what stood out to ME in Psalm 49 using SOAP today:

Scripture: Psalm 49: 15

But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol,

for he will receive me.

*If you can, read all of Psalm 49.

Observation:

In the end, no matter what my experiences on earth look like, He will save me from the an eternity without Him. He will call me to Him.

Application:

I will see people faring better than me. I will see people boast of their success. It is easy to get caught up in jealously and want what others have. I need to remember, though, that I have the ultimate prize: an eternity with Him. I should keep my focus on that.  THAT is the BIG DEAL.

A beautiful thing about that is that I can share that gift with anyone: it is a gift we can all share because there is an unlimited supply of this one to go around. Pretty cool, huh?

So don’t let the turkeys and braggers get you down: If you’ve got a relationship with our Father, you’ve got the ultimate prize. In the end, it’s going to be awesome.

Remembering all of that will keep me above the in-fighting, scuffling and politics. I should just do my best at listening and following his plan, and then do my best at conquering the challenges that enter my path. No need to judge myself against others. Instead, I should keep focused on my path. Do my best and know, in the end, no matter what happens here on earth, He will ultimately reign and pull me to Him. THAT is VICTORY.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for loving me and reaching out to me and saving me from the ultimate gloom and doom.

Keep me focused on your plan for me, not what others have and are reaching for, but YOUR plan.

You know what is best. You offer me what is best. I am truly thankful for that. Help me to live that out every day.

Amen.
