What do you do with YOUR 168 hours?

What do you do with YOUR 168 hours?

I have struggled with time management for as long as I can remember.

I’ve always wanted to do much more than I could and I’ve always been a super-duper procrastinator on the things I don’t want to do. And my husband isn’t shy at reminding me that I’m terrible at judging how long it takes to do anything. (He is a nice guy. And he is honest.)

A few nights ago I came across 168 Hours by Laura Vanderkam on Money Saving Mom. There are 168 hours in a week and Laura suggests that by looking at each week as a unit instead of each day, one can better manage her time. (There are also other fantastic principles in there, but we will start with that one.)

I started reading it Monday night and it has already made me re-think my time and where I am placing my efforts.

Right at the beginning, Laura suggests that you should log your time for a week and see where it really goes. Her premise is that you really have more time than you think you do. And I think she might be right.

I’ve only been logging for two days and just that act has caused me to be more intentional. It has also shown me a few spots where I can be more efficient or where I am doing quite well already. I can’t wait to see where my time goes at the end of my week and apply the other concepts she suggests in the book!

I intended to finish the book before reviewing it, but I couldn’t wait to share that one eye-opening tip with you.

For anyone out there struggling with time management… or wondering about reading the Bible in 90 Days with us starting July 11, but is wondering where you will get that extra hour a day, I suggest you give her time log a try.

You might also be surprised! And after reading just a bit of her book, I bet you’ll see how you can fit those things that really matter into your schedule.

Go download her 168 hour time log and start jotting down what you are really doing…

Where do you think you spend most of your 168 hours? How would you like to spend it?
