{"id":4511,"date":"2010-11-10T23:01:42","date_gmt":"2010-11-11T04:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/?page_id=4511"},"modified":"2010-11-11T00:20:27","modified_gmt":"2010-11-11T05:20:27","slug":"texas-bbq-brisket","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/texas-bbq-brisket\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas BBQ Brisket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Large slab of beef brisket<\/p>\n<p><strong> Night before:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In roasting pan, place long strips of foil, enough to completely cover brisket.<\/li>\n<li>Put brisket in fat side up.<\/li>\n<li>Season:\u00a0 I pour a little <strong>Worcestershire<\/strong> sauce over it, then some <strong>liquid smoke<\/strong> (since I don\u2019t have a smoker).\u00a0 Then rub <strong>spices<\/strong> in\u2014whatever mixture you like.<\/li>\n<li>Slice <strong>large onion<\/strong> and lay slices all over brisket.<\/li>\n<li>Close up foil strips to tightly seal brisket.\u00a0 If it is large, it may hang over.\u00a0 You might want to put the roaster on a cookie sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Cook overnight at 275.\u00a0 At least 8 hours\u2014until very tender.<\/li>\n<li>Place entire roaster with brisket in fridge for the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>An hour before serving:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take brisket out of roaster.\u00a0 Remove onions and grease.\u00a0 Cut off fat.<\/li>\n<li>Slice brisket thinly (electric knife really helps).<\/li>\n<li>Arrange thin slices on large platter or in 11&#215;13 bowl.\u00a0 They can overlap some.<\/li>\n<li>Cover with <strong>your favorite bbq sauce<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Cover dish with foil.<\/li>\n<li>Heat in over at 350 for 30 minutes or until hot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Serve with wonderful things like green beans and corn on the cob and cornbread.<\/p>\n<p>This family favorite was shared by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/11\/real-experienced-mom-judy-douglass\/\" target=\"_blank\">Real (Experienced) Mom, Judy Douglass<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Large slab of beef brisket Night before: In roasting pan, place long strips of foil, enough to completely cover brisket.
