Go Gators! Anyhow, back to the story&#8230;)\u00a0I loved\u00a0to bake a secret peanut butter and chocolate cookie.<\/p>\n<p>These cookies ROCKED. A little crispy yet still a tad chewy chocolate on the outside and peanut butter filling on the inside. Mmmmmmmm.<\/p>\n<p>I remember making them and mailing them to my brother in the Navy who said they were all destroyed by the time they reached him. I was devastated. He did not get to experience the pure deliciousness of the cookie.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, somehow the recipe was lost&#8230; and I thought lost forever. I searched for this recipe in every cookbook and magazine I could get my hands on. And then when we got this internet thing, I searched and Googled and longed. But to no avail. My secret recipe remained that: a secret.<\/p>\n<p>A few years back I tried my best to duplicate the recipe and came pretty darn close, but not close enough.<\/p>\n<p>And tonight, while doing important research (well, kind of) I found the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingarthurflour.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/27\/cast-a-spell-with-these-cookies-magic-in-the-middles\/#comment-7090\">recipe<\/a>\u00a0on the King Arthur Flour website! (Yet another reason to be thankful my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/\">sister-in-law <\/a>introduced me to bread-baking! I only get their emails because I bought her a pan there last Christmas.) The cookies are called <em>Magic in the Middles<\/em> and magic they are.<\/p>\n<p>Alleluia! Alleluia!\u00a0Al-le-lu-ia!!! ( Do you hear the angels singing?)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m telling you girls, if you want to make a good cookie, this is the one. And if you are planning to go to the same cookie exchange where I will be this Sunday: Hands off this recipe until after the competition. I&#8217;m taking home the prize.<\/p>\n<p>(Um, have I done any SOAP posts on humility lately??)<\/p>\n<p>Oooh. I cannot wait to get baking now!<\/p>\n<p>And ya know what&#8230; I might try a variation, too. I wonder how they would do with a half of a Peppermint Patty inside instead of the peanut butter mixture. Hmmmm.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t you worry.
