If I knew what days I was packing lunches and what I was packing, my mornings would go much easier. I decided to enlist the kids’ help. Here’s what we did:

I showed my oldest the school lunch menu for January. He enjoys buying lunch and I would rather he bring lunch from home (most days). We looked at the menu and he picked 2 days each week that he will not buy lunch. Then, with all three kids’ input, we came up with 5 packed lunch ideas they all like and promise to eat. We put one on each day of the week.

When not eating the school lunch, here’s our January packed-lunch menu:

Mondays: Meatball lollipops over pasta in a thermos (A meatball with a small piece of raw spaghetti stuck in it is a meatball lollipop.), fruit and a mystery sweet treat

Tuesdays: Peanut butter and honey sandwich, fruit, cookie

Wednesdays: Graham crackers with peanut butter, banana, raisins

Thursdays: Ham or turkey and cheese roll-up (meat and cheese rolled up and secured with a toothpick), chips or pretzels, pear

Fridays: Homemade pizza packs (toasted English muffin and small containers of tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni), cut veggies with hummus and ranch, mystery sweet treat

I think this is going to make my January mornings much easier than before!
