Whew! Time is flying. If you’re in Houston and enjoy wine, there are lots of great wine events and classes all around town in October. Check ’em out and maybe I’ll see you at one or two…<\/p>\n

Jump to an Event<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>Come taste wines from all over the well as well as enjoy beer, sake, and food from local food trucks. Ticket price includes tastings (wine, beer, and sake), souvenir wine glass, giveaways and a 5% off coupon for purchases made on festival day. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong> Kick off Texas Wine Month at the Inaugural Texas Wine Festival<\/a>. The Empty Glass has hand selected area Texas wineries to be on-site, along with local breweries, LIVE music, food vendors and much more! <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>Head to Brennan’s for its monthly “Case of the Mondays” Wine Tasting Class. Each class is limited to 20 participants. Together, the class will taste through an entire case of wine. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>October is Texas Wine Month! Celebrate Texas wine on the October Wine and Sausage Trail<\/a>, on October 4-6 and 11-12, 2014 along the Bluebonnet Trail. Located just one hour northwest of Houston, the Bluebonnet Wine Trail<\/a> is home to seven wineries. Your October Wine and Sausage Trail ticket is valid for all for dates and includes two select wine tastings, paired with a unique sausage dish at each winery. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>The Houston Cellar Classic is a celebration of the best food and wine that Houston has to offer. Head to the Grand Tasting Experience to enjoy great wine, delicious food, live music and a little friendly competition among the participating restaurants. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>Want to learn more about wine? This class is perfect for beginners and will cover the basics of wine– the different styles of wines, some of the \u201cclassic\u201d grape varieties, proper serving and storage, and some basic wine and food pairing principles. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>Explore the wines of Spain! This wine tasting class will give you an overview of Spain’s wine regions, the styles and varieties of each region, common labeling terms, and help you choose wine with confidence. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>Want to learn more about wine? Try this three-part Foundation Course that will introduce you, at a very basic level, to the main styles of wine available, wine storage and service, and the matching of food and wine. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>Discover the wines of the Rioja region of Spain. This class will be\u00a0 structured wine tasting that will cover the different quality levels and styles available in the Texas market. You’ll learn about the region, its history, soils, climate and styles of wine, and wine making. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>France continues to make some of the world’s most intriguing, exotic, and individualistic wines. This class will introduce you to, and taste, these classic grapes and the regions they come from in France. We will also breakdown a French Label and other essentials in order to give you a deeper, more inherent understanding of these delicious wines. <\/a><\/p>\n Event: <\/strong>This enjoyable wine tasting class gives you a chance to smell classic fruits, spices and flowers of the \u201cclassic\u201d red varieties in a neutral base wine. Then, the class will try to see if they can \u201cfind\u201d these same characteristics in an actual bottle of that particular grape variety. Can you believe October is TOMORROW?! Whew!
