I made a rookie mistake right at the start by clipping in when the first group was released to ride. I thought\u00a0the whole pack would go at once. Oops. At least I was able to get my\u00a0 foot out before I fell and brought anyone down with me!! After that, I decided to do lots of watching.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I ended up having a great ride and a lot of fun. It was very COLD, but when the sun peeked out, it was beautiful. For part of the ride we rode along the feeder to a highway. This was a little scary, but with so many cyclists around, I felt safer than had I been alone. But I don&#8217;t think I would have attempted riding along the feeder alone, anyhow.<\/p>\n<p>Length of ride: 42 miles<\/p>\n<p>average speed: 14.7 mph<\/p>\n<p>maximum speed: 23 mph<\/p>\n<p>average heart rate: 83% of max<\/p>\n<p>time: 2:51:26<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was my first organized training ride.
