The kids and I had a fantastic time playing and I also had the opportunity to learn a LOT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">You\u2019ve already seen the impact of the visit on my blog. Now I\u2019m going to share the impact on my kitchen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Toni has been singing the praises of breadmaking for years. I received two breadmakers as wedding gifts years ago (and yes, I registered for one of them) only to give both away after very little use. But after tasting her bread, and thinking about how much healthier the bread could be if I made it myself, now, I\u2019m ready to try again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Yesterday Toni emailed me her breadmaker brand of choice: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\">Zojirushi.<\/a> So off to the store I went to get one. Since I was hosting a few ladies for dinner, I thought I would let them be my first taste-testers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Here\u2019s what my kitchen looked like just 20 minutes after being home from the kitchen and grocery stores: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dscf0997.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-369\" title=\"dscf0997\" src=\"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dscf0997-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">My first run was more like a cake, but it was a recipe I got from the Zojirushi site, so it still counts. I was actually using my friends for a first round of tasters because I am planning on bringing a breakfast bread and muffins to a Bible study luncheon this Wednesday and I thought I might need a trial run.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Well, I did need that trial run, because here\u2019s what my Luscious Blueberry Loaf turned out to be:<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_367\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-367\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dscf1000.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-367\" title=\"dscf1000\" src=\"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dscf1000-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"My failed Luscious Blueberry Loaf\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-367\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My failed Luscious Blueberry Loaf<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">I did figure out my mistake. I added the blueberries at the beginning of the knead cycle instead of the end. I thought it was the end because the thing was beeping. I was, obviously, wrong. Oh well. The edges still tasted good. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Hopefully I\u2019ll fare better tomorrow night in preparation for Wednesday. Don\u2019t worry, I am making muffins, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">But wait, there\u2019s more to this tale of kitchen catastrophe and recovery\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">For some reason I am a crockpot failure. (Yes, it\u2019s true. I know it sounds impossible, but it\u2019s not.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">I remember making delicious crockpot meals as a single gal, yet since I\u2019ve been married, everything turns out terrible. I\u2019ve been through several crockpots, wondering if it was the crockpot that was causing the calamities. Four crockpots later, my food still tastes like paper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">So Toni has given me the diagnostic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u201cGo home, brown one bottom butt roast on all sides and put it in a crockpot with 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of Worcestershire. Cook at low for about 8 hours. Call with the results.\u201d She said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Well, I accidentally bought a different cut, but I&#8217;m hoping for some success anyhow.
