Be specific.<\/p>\n<p>Next present your requests to Him. Ask Him for whatever you want and need.<\/p>\n<p>Third, ask Him to guide you in your reading, so that you will hear his message for you today.<\/p>\n<p>After you read, record your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.momstoolbox.com\/blog\/what-is-soap\/\" target=\"_blank\">SOAP observations<\/a> and then listen for three minutes. Set a timer and just\u00a0 listen to what  he might be sharing. Don&#8217;t ask. Don&#8217;t thank. Just listen. (You can pray  more after you listen, if you like.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Samantha Kelly is back as guest SOAP&#8217;er again.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what she heard in the reading:<\/p>\n<p><strong>How Close Is Your Heart?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scripture: Matthew 15:8-9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis people  honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do  they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Observation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Has anyone else noticed that Christ speaks a lot about the difference between our words and our hearts?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We  cannot give our Lord lip-service. Who knows us better than He does? If  we are to truly live the Christian faith, we must really have our heart  in it.<\/p>\n<p>Our words will eventually betray us anyway: \u201cYou brood of  vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the  abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.\u201d Matthew 12:34<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Father  in Heaven, be with me in my walk with you. Keep my heart with you  always, and help my actions reflect Your will, not our own. May I always  be growing, dying to self, and pressing on to the goal.
