The reading for Monday is Matthew 21:28-46.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When it is time to read, please start first by praying and thanking God for His many blessings. Be specific.<\/p>\n

Next present your requests to Him. Ask Him for whatever you want and need.<\/p>\n

Third, ask Him to guide you in your reading, so that you will hear his message for you today.<\/p>\n

After you read, record your SOAP observations<\/a> and then listen for three minutes. Set a timer and just\u00a0 listen to what he might be sharing. Don’t ask. Don’t thank. Just listen. (You can pray more after you listen, if you like.)<\/p>\n

Here is what Amy heard in the reading:<\/p>\n

Scripture: Matthew 21:29-30<\/strong>
\n29<\/strong> \u201c\u2018I will not,\u2019 he answered, but later he changed his mind and
\nwent.<\/p>\n

30<\/strong> \u201cThen the father went to the other son and said the same thing.
\nHe answered, \u2018I will, sir,\u2019 but he did not go.<\/p>\n

Observation:<\/strong>
\nKids haven’t changed! No, make that people haven’t changed. Kids get a
\nbad rap for disobeying, but adults aren’t always much better. People
\ndon’t always say what they mean. People don’t always do what they say
\nthey will.<\/p>\n

Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Words are important. Truth, honesty, and integrity are all part of our
\ncharacter. I want my character to represent God and his love for
\npeople. It is important to say what I mean, and even more important
\nfor my actions to match my words.<\/p>\n

Prayer:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dear Lord,
\nThank you for giving me a mind of my own. Thank you for giving me
\nfreedom to make my own decisions and choices. Help me to use that
\nfreedom wisely. Help me to take responsibility seriously and to only
\ncommit to those things I intend to follow through on. Thank you for
\nyour willingness to let me correct my actions when I first make a poor
\ndecision. Thank you for your mercy and grace.<\/p>\n

Amen.<\/p>\n
