Guest SOAP Post from Phoebe.<\/p>\n
The reading for Tuesday <\/strong>is Luke Chapter 13<\/strong> <\/strong>.<\/p>\n I was introduced to Phoebe and her blog by my sister-in-law<\/a>, and then was thrilled to meet her in real life in February 2010. Here is what Phoebe heard in her reading of Luke 13:<\/p>\n Repenting is Essential<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Scripture: Luke 13: 2-5<\/strong><\/p>\n Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? \u00a0I tell you no! \u00a0But unless you repent, you too will all perish. \u00a0Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them–do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? \u00a0I tell you, no! \u00a0But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Observation:<\/strong><\/p>\n Although scripture is unclear as to exactly what incident is being referred to regarding the Galileans, I’m assuming it wasn’t something\u00a0minuscule. \u00a0Jesus makes it very clear here that even though our sins may seem less than others sins, we must repent.<\/p>\n Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n I’m often guilty at looking at other’s peoples actions {not only criminals, but also strangers and friends} and comparing them to my own, making my sins out to be something less than what they are. \u00a0Through doing this, not only have I justified my behaviors–but I’ve also lessened them in my own mind to nothing more than “just normal.”\u00a0 In turn, not repenting, because it was no longer an issue. \u00a0Obviously, this behavior is dangerous!<\/p>\n A sin is a sin.<\/p>\n End of Story.<\/p>\n Prayer:<\/strong><\/p>\n Heavenly Father,<\/p>\n I pray that during my day to walk that I can keep my fleshly actions aside and be focused on only You, and how you would have me to behave, react, and show Your love to those around me. \u00a0Let me realize that even though I’m not guilty of murder, I am still guilty of sinning. \u00a0Your son bore my sins, just as he did everyone elses. \u00a0Please forgive me for those “little” things.
