The reading for Thursday <\/strong>is John Chapter 12<\/strong>.<\/p>\n John 12:27<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cNow is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? \u2018Father, save me from this hour\u2019? But for this purpose I have come to this hour.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Jesus is speaking in this verse. He is reflecting upon His fast approaching death. His soul is troubled (Side Note: As I think about this simple truth, I find comfort. Jesus knows what it is like to have a troubled soul. He knows how we feel when we are troubled.) Even though His soul is troubled, Jesus trusts in the Father’s plan for Him. He knows what is going to happen, it will be difficult. Actually, difficult doesn’t even seem like the right word to use here because of the extent of the suffering that Jesus will suffer. But yet, Jesus rests in the fact that there is a bigger purpose, and it is for that purpose that He has come to this time.<\/p>\n How many times do we go through suffering and trials and we lose sight of the greater purposes of God? It is hard sometimes to see God’s plan in the midst of the problems that we are facing. However, God does have a plan and a purpose for all that we go through, even the difficult! It takes a lot of faith to take this truth to heart. However, once we believe this truth fully, we can live more joyfully, even when it’s difficult, because we know that God is at work in our life for His purposes!<\/p>\n Lord, I thank you for the plans that You have made for my life. I thank you for the beautiful plan of redemption through the death of Your Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for showing us such a perfect example of what it looks like to trust in Your plan even when it is difficult. I pray, Lord, that we would take this example of faith and attempt to live it out in our lives everyday, especially when it is hard.<\/p>\n Ashley is a lover of Christ who takes pride in her role as wife to one and future adoptive mother to many.
