Thank you for joining me on our first day of the Proverbs in 31 Days on MomsToolbox. Please read Proverbs 1 today and pray, asking God to guide your reading so that you will hear His message for you.<\/p>\n

Here is what stood out to me:<\/h1>\n

Scripture: Proverbs 1:24<\/h2>\n

But since you rejected me when I called
\nand no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Observation:<\/h2>\n

There will be punishment for not responding when I call.<\/p>\n

Application:<\/h2>\n

I do pretty well at reading the Bible regularly, but I do have my hiccups.<\/p>\n

This morning I kept finishing up little tasks here and there as I was telling myself that I would get to my Bible reading and prayer time soon. Just after this one thing. Okay after this one. Well, I need to eat, so after this one….<\/p>\n

And, as He was reaching out to me, whispering His invitation to come read, listen, rest in His Word and listen to His wisdom, I kept rejecting Him and making Him wait.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But who is the one who really suffers there? What would the last few hours have been like had I really just started with Him instead of all those little things which led to more little things? Would my morning have been better? Could I have been more efficient or happier in checking off my tasks? Probably.<\/p>\n

As much as I\u2019d like to think that all those other things were more important and weren\u2019t taking away from my time with Him, the truth is that I cheated myself of the best possible start to my day by choosing to do other things before chatting with God and listening.<\/p>\n

I need to put Him first. I heard Him calling and yet I put Him off. And my day has already turned into a jumble.<\/p>\n

I wonder how in the world I am going to get \u2018everything\u2019 done and I cry out and ask Him to help me prioritize. But if I don\u2019t make time to really listen back, if instead I put Him off for \u2018just a minute,\u2019 I\u2019ll be doing everything alone without Him. And that is not in the recipe for success.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow morning will not be the same. I will get up and meet with Him before it is too late and the craziness begins.<\/p>\n

Prayer:<\/h2>\n

Oh Lord, thank you for not getting frustrated enough to give up on me when I put so many other things before you. I ask you for help and then, all too often, I put you off when you call for me.
\nPlease, Lord, protect me from evil\u2019s influence. Guide me in making a fresh start tomorrow morning and all of today.
\nI want you in my life. I want you to guide my life.
\nI will do a better job of listening and starting right away with you. If I can wake up early for other things, I can certainly wake up early so my time with you is not pushed around on my schedule.
\nI love you. Thank you for your love and guidance. Thank you for calling out to me.<\/p>\n
