How is technology helping wine drinkers discover the wines they really want?
With so many wine apps out there, it can be hard to choose the right one for you, let alone which wine to drink tonight!

I’ll be at the Women for WineSense July event in Dallas this Tuesday evening leading a conversation about what wine apps are out there to help guide wine drinkers, as well as talk about ways retailers are getting into the game to help shoppers in store, digitally.

If you are in Dallas and are curious about wine apps and technology, I’d love for you to join in the conversation and enjoy a glass of wine with me.

Aside from blogging here at MomsToolbox, you  may know I’ve also been working in wine flavor data since 2010. In 2009, I was a frustrated consumer, tired of gambling at the grocery store or restaurant when a sommelier was not around to help me. After thinking about the idea for awhile, I knew I needed to find a solution and so I  got to work recruiting and directing sensory scientists, wine makers and an applied mathematician to create a new way to objectively characterize wine and build out a personal preference learning algorithm.

Along the way I launched a wine blog (which has evolved to become the Wine4.Me blog) and partnered with Erin of $5Dinners  on a successful wine pairing e-cookbook, Dinner and Wine for $20 or Less, in 2011, and then launched Wine4.Me, a free iPhone application in the summer of 2014.

In the Fall of 2015, the company I created, VineSleuth, joined forces with IBM Watson to begin work on a new project just for retailers, to go right in the wine aisle as kiosks where most casual wine drinkers shop. The partnership caught the attention of the New York Times, the Editor in Chief of Fortune, CNN Money, CNBC and more.

The Dallas chapter of Women for WineSense invited me to speak this Tuesday at their monthly meeting and, of course I am thrilled to share my thoughts on wine technology as it relates to casual wine drinkers, as well as here their thoughts on what is working and what is needed.
