A tale of super strong faith

Scripture:  Romans 4: 18

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Observation: Abraham was really old, as was Sarah. The odds of he and Sarah having children were slim by worldly odds. Yet God told him he would have many children. And Abraham didn’t question, but instead believed. And God’s word was proven true.

Application: Abraham’s hope and belief did not waver and God used him for amazing things. His belief was credited to him as righteousness, as my faith in Jesus Christ is what makes me righteous. But what else could I do for God if my faith was as unwavering? How would I have reacted to such news that I would bear children at nearly 100 years of age?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for sharing so many wonderful stories with those of us who choose to read your word. Thank you for your encouragement and for your warnings. Guide me in growing my faith, in turning my life completely over to you. I want to be in control. I want to set the pace… but you can only use me if I follow you. So, please continue guiding me in changing my ways and guide me in following and trusting you completely. Help me to relinquish control to the one who is really in charge: You.
