Another request for MS 150 support

This is a letter I just sent to many of my ‘real-life’ friends.

I do want/ need/ desire for you to consider supporting me through prayer.

I do NOT want any of my cyber-friends (or anyone, for that matter) to feel obligated to contribute financially. That being said, please read on…

I finally have pedaled both ways through the very hilly state parks in Bastrop, successfully cycled an 80-mile route and raised $1,060 for the MS Society: I’m almost ready for the big 180-mile ride April 18-19. To really be ready I still need lots of prayer.

And I’m serious about that one.

Saturday my husband and I rode through the parks in Bastrop. My first way through I was miserable. Almost every climb taunted me and every downhill terrified me. I know I am a stronger rider this year, but the voices in my head kept yelling doubts at me. I clipped out twice. I fell once. I was not pleased with my performance.

I knew my body could do it, but my mind would not let me.

Once we finally reached the end of the route and turned to go back through, I stopped, yelled at Satan (Oh, yes I did. Out loud.) and prayed about it.

And I vowed to pray the entire ride back through the parks. I told God how powerful He is (as if he needed me to tell him that) and thanked him for his guidance, love and support. I prayed for myself, made up a song (you can read about that here) and prayed for anyone and every situation that came to mind as I pedaled all the way through, listening to his whispering through the leaves in all those trees.

And my ride back through the park (which is the MS 150 route) was spectacular. Amazing. Incredible. And I even enjoyed it.

THAT was the power of prayer. The routes were completely different to me, yet my  husband said they were both equally rigorous. Not for me, though, because I had the ultimate cyclist, healer and protector right there with me the whole time.

So, as I head into the final 2 weeks of preparation for the ride, I know what is the most important to me: Prayer.

So here is what I am asking of you:

  1. Prayer for me for the ride April 18 & 19. (His presence, strength, safety, endurance, joy-He knows what I need.)
  2. Prayer for those directly impacted by Multiple Sclerosis
  3. A financial contribution to help end MS (If you’re up for it. No pressure on this one.)
  4. And for you to remember the amazing power of prayer the next time you are challenged…  and then give it a try.

I really appreciate all of you who have already contributed by letting me know you will be praying for me and I also appreciate those of you have contributed financially. Together, we can help the MS Society find an end to this debilitating disease.

And, please, let me know if you plan to pray for me. Like last year, I plan to cover my water bottle with the names of those praying and/or contributing financially. This way I can pray for you and be encouraged, knowing I have your support, every time I go for a sip of water during the ride.

To contribute financially, please follow this link to my official MS 150 page.

Thanks so much for your support of me in this ride. I tremendously apprecaite it.
