B 90 Day 2 SOAP: He listens to our pleas for help

Today’s Reading: Genesis 17:1- Genesis 28:19

Scripture: Genesis 19: 21

He said to him, “Very well, I will grant this request, too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of.”

Observation: The Lord’s angels heard Lot’s cries for help and special consideration and then granted his request for mercy.

Application: The Lord hears our cries and responds. No, it may not always be in exactly the way we want him to, but He does listen to our prayers and respond, sometimes making accommodation.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for hearing each of our individual cries for help and mercy. Please help those who feel lost and unheard to feel your presence and love and compassion. Help all to see that you are the God of love. And thank you, Lord, for listening to each and every one of us who cries out to you.

I found it interesting to note that almost the same verse spoke to me the last time  I read through the Bible in 90 Days. Here’s a link to my B 90 Day 2 post from January.

Tomorrow’s Reading: Genesis 28:20 – Genesis 40:11

Ooh, great insight! I love it! It was God calling Abraham to sacrifice Isaac in Genesis 22:2 that caught my attention today. http://jenniferdawnmclucas.com/surrendering-issac/

  2. My favorite verse for today’s reading was Gen. 24 67 How Sarah was a comfort to Isaac after the death of his mother. I want to be a comfort to my husband not matter what the circumstances are.

  3. Day 2 completed. Thanks for hosting this x

  4. Just figuring this all out this story really hits home today as I have just lost my wonderful aunt and of course we all prayed for her to get well. But i know that god has a plan and she is now with him. Thanks for getting all of this together I am almost done with day 1.

  6. I completely forgot to check in earlier this week! I have been sick most of the week and am just now getting back to “normal”. So far I am a little behind in my reading but am hoping to be caught by the weekend! I am soo glad that I found this challenge as I have never read the Bible cover to cover before and am enjoying the experience so far.

  7. I did not realize that I needed to check in each week (just read the post and missed the deadline). I have completed my reading through day 2, since I read in the evening, I have not yet completed day 3.

Do we have to post every day that we have completed the reading? I thought it was just check in once a week?

Wow, this is going to be harder than I thought. I completely missed the check-in on Monday night and am already behind in the reading. I will try hard this week to catch up.

  12. Finished my reading for the day, but wasn’t able to blog about it. I am loving this journey and as I start reading each day I am so excited to get to the next chapter. Tomorrow I will make my posts on today’s reading. Here’s where it is all located.

I have read in the past about how Abraham had decieved the rulers about Sarah being his sister and was Interested to see that Issac did the same. It really makes me think about how sons will make the mistakes of their fathers. Makes me also think about that unless we realize the mistakes of our fathers we can not change the circumstances for our children.

I had no idea I would be this hooked on Day 2 :) I was afraid I would find it boring or hard, sorry just being honest. I’m so excited to read tomorrow!!!

  22. Is it okay if we read ahead of schedule? Now that I have joined the challenge; when I have nothing to do (kids napping or spending hours outside) I like to pick-up my Bible and continue. Reading the Bible in order is pretty exciting! I want to see what’s going to happen next (even though I have read the stories many times, something about reading them in order………)
    Blessings,

  24. Day 2 reading is finished. I really liked your SOAP break down today. “The Lord hears our cries and responds”. This is something I’ve been struggling with a lot lately dealing with PCOS and struggling to have a baby. I pray to God daily that he blesses my husband and I with a beautiful baby and it’s hard for me to accept that its all about HIS plan and not my own. Today I will pray for acceptance and just bask in the knowledge and grace that the Lord does hears my cries and will respond as he sees fit.

  25. Read day 2…the passage that always speaks to me is the one where Jacob pretends to be Esau in order to get his father’s blessing. he didn’t seem to be concerned that he was in effect stealing what wasn’t rightfully his. His concern was that he miht get caught.

This has been even more amazing than last time. Like some of the others, I’m reading with specifics in mind this time through—and this time, it’s finding Jesus in every single place. Truly, we serve a Great God.
    Thanks Amy, for hosting!

This is all new to me I have wanted to read the Bible for so many years and never new how to start ,The Bible in 90 days has made it much easier to take on this task.Thank you for all the work you have put into this website.Today I learned that God does hear our cries and responds the way he see’s best for us.

  29. I was offline all weekend and missed that we were supposed to check in Monday nights! I hope I am not “disqualified” :)

I have done several through the Bible in 1 year plans, but since my youngest was born 4 years ago it has been difficult ( not sure why – probably because I need to be in the Word more than ever with a challenging child like Noah – but the devil doesn’t want me there).

I am LOVING this plan so far. I am using my ESV study Bible which has just single columns on a page and it is SO much easier for me (I am an avid reader so am used to single columns I guess). I hope it is ok to go ahead – I was so in the zone reading yesterday and today and my kids were occupied so I kept going. I figure there will be a day where I have a harder time doing the whole day’s reading and this gives me a padding. I was just so engrossed in the stories I already knew, but finding new details.

Our pastor’s wife shared that she keeps a Bible underlined or journal everytime she reads the Bible and picks something different to look for each time. So, this time I am looking for names and attributes of God – I am just jotting the reference and name or attribute in a pretty new journal I bought at Barnes and Noble. I am filled with excitement at what my next discovery will be that I just keep reading!

Thank you for doing this and being used by God to get me back in His Awesome, Inerrant Word!!!!

  30. Is there not a linky to report having finished the day’s reading on every day? I did check in on Twitter
