Day 55 of the Bible in 90 Days
Scripture: Jeremiah 17: 7-8
7“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
Observation: True trust in the Lord will bring true peace and prosperity
Application: This image is so peaceful and soothing. And it describes a life I would like to have.
Instead I feel as though I am so often scurrying from project to project, never fully giving anything my all and always balancing too much.
Why is that?
Why do I pile on so much? Who am I trying to please?
Prayer: Lord, guide me in trusting in you completely. I want to do so much and have my hands in so many pots. Guide me. Show me what you want me to do. Show me how to do what you want me to do. And forgive me for trying to do it mostly on my own. I need to move you from the role of my assistant and helper and into the role of boss.
I want to be like that tree planted along the stream, enjoying the beauty and nourishment and providing beauty, protection and nourishment where you intend for me to do so.
Please guide me in seeking you better and listening harder and trusting completely.
