B 90 Days SOAP: Working for the Lord brings amazing success

Day 35 of the Bible in 90 Days

Scripture: Nehemiah 6: 15-16

15So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. 16When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.

Observation: The Lord allowed them to complete the restoration in 52 days and this put fear in those opposing them, as they realized  this could have only happened with God on their side.

Application: I don’t know much about building, nor do I know much about the details of exactly how much restoration needed to take place. However, I feel it is pretty safe to assume that the restoration had to have taken place much more quickly than could have been imagined, or accomplished without the direction of God.

Perhaps this is saying that when God is on your side, you can do incredible, amazing things otherwise thought not possible. Or even better, perhaps it is saying that when you are truly doing God’s work, you, and those around you, will be amazed.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing me to serve in so many ways. Please guide my heart so that I can serve you completely and turn my efforts completely over to you. Please guide me in ordering my priorities and carrying them  out. I struggle so often with what to do when…  and often catch myself spending time on things that You wouldn’t put at the top of my list.

Guide me, Lord. Use me, Lord. You’ve already amazed me… I can’t even imagine how much you would amaze me if I was in complete submission to you. Help me in getting closer to that, please.

I had a wonderful discussion with our children’s minister Wednesday night about the divided kingdom of Judah. There was a timeline in one of the Sunday school rooms that really made me understand it better. Love the way everything is coming together in my head during the reading of the Bible.

  4. What’s amazing to me is how God changes the hearts of the Persian rulers so His work can go forth. Truly, nothing is too difficult for Him!
