Bible 180, Week 16

Welcome, dear readers!

Whew! Isaiah is not easy reading… at least not for me. I love reading joy, happiness, and wisdom… and this held lots of doom and gloom and struggle. Ouch.

It made me so thankful for eternity with Christ, though, that is for sure.

I didn’t take many notes as I was reading. Instead my journal entries held more prayers than reflections on the reading… which I still see as a big win.

I did write this on Friday:

“Eeek. More bad stuff. I do NOT want to be on the wrong side FOR SURE!”

I am truly thankful for the prophets for pointing us to the right way, uncovering mysteries. Yes, they spoke in ways that were mysterious at times and I believe there are many mysteries yet to be understood. But they still pointed the way.

Then there is our Savior, Jesus Christ, the answer and fulfillment to so many prophesies. I am truly thankful for Christ who showed true love and truth… and paid the price of my sins, of all of our sins. Without Him I know I would be in a lot of trouble. This reading sure reminded me of that.

I’m ready to push through.

Hi Amy! Thanks again for your reflections and thoughts. Isaiah is a hard read for me as well. I found myself highlighting and praying on the tidbits of hope and strength that were found in the passages in the midst of all the struggles. Here are a few that stood out!
“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense he has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Is 12:2-3
With firm purpose you maintain peace; in peace, because of our trust in you.”Trust in the Lord forever! For the Lord is an eternal Rock. Is 26:3-4

For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: By waiting and by calm you shall be saved, in quiet and in trust shall be your strength. Is 30:15

Truly, the Lord is waiting to be gracious to you, truly, he shall rise to show you mercy; For the Lord is a God of justice: happy are all who wait for him! Is 30:18
