Bible 180: Week 22/ 2nd week in New Testament!!!!

Happy Monday morning, sweet friends!

It’s the last week of the year and yet the second week of a glorious new beginning as we move into the second week of the New Testament!

When I first planned this schedule out, I didn’t like that we wouldn’t wrap up our reading by the end of the year, that we had a month still of reading in the new year. It just seemed messy.

But, WOW! I have to say that bigger motives than being neat and tidy were at work here. Starting the New Testament the week that we celebrate the birth of our Savior was pretty awesome, in my opinion. I loved it!

And now, now that many of you are putting away Christmas decorations (We don’t put ours away until after the new year begins.) and moving to thoughts of the New Year, I love how the Holy Spirit is letting us linger on the true Christmas story by having us read the story of Jesus’s birth once again this week.

I loved reading of His birth in Matthew and I look forward to reading it again, the more joyful version, this week.

From last week’s reading…

With the end of one year and the coming of another, of course my heart and mind are looking to what 2021 may bring and what my goals may be. Last week, as I began writing out my thoughts, our reading brought me what I want my guiding principle to be:

Ask. Seek. Knock…. and then LISTEN and DO.

I want my steps to be led by Him. I want my actions to be led by Him. I want my achievements to be led by Him.

In Matthew 7, He tells us to ask and seek and knock and then that the door will be opened. He wants to hear our needs, our wants. He wants us to involve the Holy Spirit in our lives. He wants us to go to him and ask. He wants to guide us and give us great things.

I want my plans to be in alignment with His plan. I want those great things. I want to follow His guidance, not to go charging out on my own. I know that when I listen, better things happen.

And so, in 2021, and beyond, I want Matthew 7:7-8 to guide me.

Bible 180 Week 22 Reading Schedule

I am so glad to be reading this with you. I am so glad to know that each of us is setting aside time each day to listen to what He has to say to each of us, together and yet independently.

I hope and pray that this week’s reading will touch your heart and your head and that you will have a wonderful week as we close out 2020 and welcome 2021.

Please do let me know that you are reading with us and, if you’re up for sharing any of your thoughts from last week in the comments, that would be extra fantastic.

In love,

  1. Merry Christmas to all! Like you Amy I enjoyed starting the New Testament and reading about Christ’s birth around Christmas. It was special!
A few scriptures stood out this week. Beginning with Mk 7:6 with Isaiah’s prophesy.. This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Then Mk 9:6 when God says, This is my beloved, Son. Listen to him. Also a number of times when he heals someone Jesus says, Your faith has saved you. Everything is possible with faith. Mk 9:23 I feel God is calling on us to Humble ourselves before God, listen to Jesus and follow him. When we do this everything will possible through faith in Him!
