Bible in 90 Days: Do you need an official B90 Bible?

Photobucket

A major component for successfully completing the reading for the Bible in 90 Days Challenge is using the official program Bible. I know that sounds strange… I doubted it at first, too. Isn’t a Bible a Bible? And isn’t an NIV Bible the same as any other Bible?

But then I realized that Ted had successfully read the entire Bible and I had not. And then I realized that he had developed a program that was helping others to do it and I had not.

So I stepped out in faith, bought the Bible, signed up for the program and went on to read the entire Bible in 97 days… (I hate that I have to confess that! But I went on to do it in 90 days several other times, I promise.)

Since announcing this program, many of you have told me of your intention to participate…  with your own Bible.  And I’m glad you are in, but I want you to finish and read all of God’s Word together with me with minimal interruptions along the way.

Yes, you are free to do whatever you chose. But this is a major commitment. It is a huge task to achieve. And I want you to start off with everything in your favor… as does Ted, who created the program.

To that end, if you are genuinely committed to completing the reading in 90 days, yet the cost of buying another Bible is keeping you from using a Bible in 90 Days Bible, or participating at all, Bible in 90 Days.org will provide you with a Bible free of charge. Yes, you read that right– If you want to do this, Bible in 90 Days.org wants to equip you. Even for free, if need be.

Hop on over to the Contact page at Bible in 90Days.org and make your request. Since the challenge begins Friday,  your new Bible will not make it to you in time…  just start with whatever you can and pick up when the new one arrives. You’ll be glad you did.

  1. Well, I’m going to have to just give it a go without the “official” edition, and not *solely* because I’m ornery–hey! I’m going to use the closest online version I can get to the NIV, and I don’t really like having that dictated to me, either, but I’m sucking it up. If they had the official 90-day version in electronic or spiral-bound format, I might cave and use that, but I foresee this requiring me to cram in reading at any opportune moment and my hemiplegia precludes me from reading a book without special equipment to hold it open easily, so I’ll pick from the NIV Reader’s Edition, Today’s NIV, or the NIV-UK, which are the ones BibleGateway.com has available and just use the reading schedule. My netbook is going to become my best friend.

If that’s not good enough, it’ll be because I’m not disciplining myself properly, not because I’m not using a specific edition of a specific version printed in a specific font size with exactly 12 pages per day’s worth of reading.

I suspect my support system will have more to do with success than any paraphernalia that I do or don’t use.

Just looked up the reading level of those versions above and found the NIRV is written on a 3rd grade level. I don’t think I could stomach that for 90 days.

  2. I have noticed the weekends are harder but during the week I try to read extra to keep up. It is very interesting and I have nonbelievers the say this is a crazy idea. But o’ well I am looking forward to my readings every day.

  3. That is very generous, I am sure it will bless many people. :)

  5. I’m not sure I can pull this off but I am going to try. I ordered the bible from another source before I saw this (but given the others whose need is much greater, I don’t mind at all). But it does solidify my faith that this is something I am being led to do. Looking forward to the journey!

  6. This is so incredibly generous!! What a HUGE blessing!! Thank you for letting us know!! I passed it on to others.

  12. Are you serious?!? Oh my goodness, call me hormonal or whatever, but this just totally made me cry! I’ve been unemployed since this summer and we’ve been living off my husband’s income (or rather, not really getting by on it). I finally got a job 2 weeks ago but won’t start working till January and am in a huge financial crunch. I just spent yesterday at the bank trying to come up with just a little more to get by til I start getting paychecks, and had no luck. I really want to do this b90days, and was planning to do it with my bible… This would seriously be amazing and generous and absolutely perfect!!! I’m sorry for the sob story, but this was seriously perfect timing and just what my financially desperate heart needed to hear! Thank you so much!!!
