Bible in 90 Days Family Awards Ceremony

I love how one family celebrated the completion of the Bible in 90 Days last session. I’ll let Sarah share in her own words::

Those are pictures of my daughters, Carly (15) and Emma (11) with their medals.

We engraved their name, date, and “Bible in 90 Days” on the back.  They were such troopers through the whole thing!  It was sweet to see my girls reading the Bible every spare moment, they did not want to get behind.  Their times to read were when they first woke up, late afternoon before supper, and again in the evening right before bedtime.  They’d also read in the car on the way to and from appointments.  If they had plans for the weekend, they’d read ahead during the week so they wouldn’t have as much to read on the weekend.  It was also good for them to see their dad and I reading every spare moment as well.  The t.v. has sat dark and silent, I loved it!  :)

For the last two years, our family has tried to read through the Bible – we’ve followed the One Year Bible, but we have failed to complete it both times.  I think because we tried to read it all together and different things would hinder that time – my husband’s work schedule, church activities, piano, sports, etc.  The key to completing it this time (and in 90 days!) was each could read on their own, no one had to wait until all family members were present to read.  I also like it that each person was reading every word and not just listening (which is easy to day dream!).
For their accomplishment, my husband had the idea of getting medals made for them.  They’ve received medals for 4H, National History Day, music and track – but this is a way bigger accomplishment!!!  We had a little ceremony and invited Grandma and Grandpa and an aunt over (which was a witness to them as well) and presented the girls with the medals.  They were very excited!  He told them they’ll get a medal each time they read through the Bible.  Now their little brother is excited too to do it.

Thanks so much for the weekly encouragement and daily prayers!  Praises to God for HIS help through the whole thing – we are so blessed and closer to HIM because of it.

  1. I think that is such a wonderful idea and such a great way to get kids excited about reading God’s word. I think it’s wonderful that not only you and your husband read through the Bible but that you got your children involved as well!

  2. This is such a great idea! I remember getting medals as a kid for different sports and it really was very motivating! Great idea :)
