Bible in 90 Days: Meet Your Mentors Part One

In lieu of the Real (Experienced) Moms series this week, I would like to introduce you to some of the incredible women who will be serving you as mentors during the next Bible in 90 Days reading session which begins July 5. I will continue with more of these amazing ladies in more posts in the coming days.

All of these women have successfully completed the Bible in 90 Days program and are looking forward to encouraging you, praying for you and helping you do the same, should you decide to join us on this next reading.

Jennifer

Well I don’t know exactly how to introduce myself, but I’ll give it a shot.

My name is Jennifer, I am 34, and I live in Birmingham, AL.  I was saved as a young child and have been in church practically my whole life.  I wanted to participate in the first Bible in 90 Days to gain a deeper understanding and a background for all the stories I had been taught since childhood.  It’s kind of sad how much we take our relationship with Christ for granted when we’ve always been saved.  I had never read the Bible cover to cover before and I can honestly say it was life changing.  It makes such a difference when you see the “whole” story as it was meant to be seen.  Not just the bits and pieces that I was taught  (or can remember, Ha!) in Sunday School or Vacation Bible School.

I haven’t decided whether I am going to read along again or not, since I am also doing a Precepts Bible Study at my church.  Not sure I have time for both, but I absolutely cannot wait to be a mentor for the new group of readers.  It is going to change your life and I am so thankful that I get to be a small part of that.

Leah

I am a homeschooling mom of four children.  I blog at The Courtney Six.

I decided to join Amy in reading through the Bible in 90 days in January.   I have read through the Bible in a year many times- almost every year since I was in college.  But, the last few years, I have had a hard time being faithful in my reading.  I know how important it is to stay in God’s Word, but I get so busy that I let it slip.

I decided the challenge to read through in 90 days would be good for me.  Prayerfully, I began to read in January.  I was challenged by the amount of reading required each day, but as I read, I was so impressed by the Bible reading in this way.  I really was able to get the “flow” of the Bible through history- something I missed out on when I was reading over a whole year.  Having so much to read each day also kept me faithful.  I knew I couldn’t miss a day!  I was very blessed by my reading and staying in God’s Word so much and so faithfully.

When Amy asked for mentors for the July reading session that is beginning, I was excited to volunteer.  I have been so blessed reading through the Bible in 90 days, and I know it can be challenging.  I believe it can seem overwhelming at first.  I hope I can encourage other readers to try it even though it is a challenge, so that they can receive the blessing I did by reading.  God has promised that His Word is quick and powerful.  It can strengthen, teach, and encourage us.  I am excited to read through again and looking forward prayerfully to what God will teach us!

Sarah

I am a thirty something wife and mother of two kids, ages 4 and almost 2.

My husband and I own a skateboard/snowboard/bicycle shop that has struggled to make it through the slow economy and then a devastating fire last summer.   With two kids, a business, and everything else, life is quite chaotic and if there are two paths for anything, we always seem to end up on the difficult one. Life the last couple of years has required a daily dose of faith and reading the Bible in 90 days was a great way for me to understand the bigger picture God has in store for us and, though life seems chaotic, difficult, and hard, He is there and He will get us through.  Reading the Bible in 90 days was an incredible experience for me, I can’t wait to do it again and I want to reach out to other people and encourage them to see the bigger picture of God’s story and His great love for us.

Allison

My name is Allison, and I’m a stay-at-home/homeschooling mom of two.  My wonderful husband and I have been married for 9 years, and we have a 6 1/2 year old daughter (the 1/2 is VERY important, you know!) and a 2 year old son.  We love to spend time together as a family, especially playing games.  I enjoy scrapbooking, baking, and reading.  I blog at Savoringthemoments, and although I don’t blog very often anymore because I’m trying to be intentional with my family time, I still love the community that the “blogworld” provides.

I completed the B90 Days challenge earlier this year, and am joining with all of you for a second round because it made such an impact on my life.  I have been raised in church, and “know” all of the stories, principles, and right answers.  I have participated in Bible studies, and have taught classes.  One thing I had never done is to be intentional (can you tell it’s a theme word of mine?) and committed to daily Bible reading.  The B90 Days challenge was just what I needed to form new habits, increase my overall understanding of the Bible, and usher in a fresh relationship with my savior.  My relationship with the Lord increased exponentially during those 90 days, and I have found that my hunger and thirst for His word and His presence have not gone away.  I am excited to mentor others because I know that although a challenge awaits, so does a great reward.  Sometimes all it takes to complete a tough journey is a cheerleader and prayer partner.  I can’t wait to see what God has in store!!

Cassandra

I don’t remember how I found the Bible in 90 Days program but I am very glad I did.

My family and friends were very skeptical when I told them that I intended to read through the entire Bible in only 90 days. Could it really be done? 89 days later, I was finished. What a journey. Reading the Bible straight through gave me a new perspective on the importance of living life for God’s glory. By reading so quickly, I was able to see the bigger themes of Scripture and how God has worked throughout history. It really was a worthwhile experience, one that I hope everyone is able to complete!

These ladies’ stories have inspired me and give me goosebumps. I am so excited that they decided to jump in and help others to read the Bible cover to cover in just 90 days!

Tomorrow I will share a few more messages from some more ladies on our team as I continue gearing you up to be ready to read with us beginning July 5.

We’ll have our first link up and check in Monday, July 5, when I will ask each of you to share a short paragraph or two about you and your desire to read the Bible in 90 days with us. Bloggers can feel free to link up to a post on their own site that day. Everyone is invited to respond via the comments section, as well. And then, of course, we’ll have our first Tweet-Up from 8-9 CST that evening.

By the way… if you are a Blogging Through the Bible in 90 Days graduate with MomsToolbox from earlier this year (even if it took you a few more than 90 days) and are feeling a tug at your heart, I am still inviting new mentors. At last glance, 244 readers were signed up to read with us. The more mentors we have on our team, the more encouragement we can share. If you would like to serve, please just send me a note.

I’m sure with so many signed up you’re swamped trying to assign mentors – thanks to all the amazing women who are giving of their time to mentor! Just wondering when I should worry if I haven’t been assigned a mentor…signed up a few days ago. I just don’t want to miss it if my spam filter eats the message or something! :)

    1. You ask a GREAT question!
I will still be placing readers with mentors through our start date. You will hear from your mentor for the first time during the first week of reading.
So glad you are reading with us!!
