Blast away Boredom with a Fruit of the Spirit Tree

Check back every Monday through Thursday for ideas to have more fun all summer long.

Need more ideas? Try this one to get you set for anytime boredom sets in…

On with today’s idea…

Fruit of the Spirit Tree

Photobucket

A very clever friend of mine from church suggested this fun craft project that leads to encouragement. (Don’t let my unattractive photo scare you, please!!)

Start with any potted plant (real or fake) and set it out to be your family’s Fruit of the Spirit tree.

Or, make a poster using construction paper and/ or posterboard like I did and tape leaves onto the tree. I used a zipperbag to hold the leaves and another zipperbag to hold tape and a pencil.

Post Galatians 5:22-23 nearby:

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Set a bowl with a bunch of blank die-cuts of fruit nearby.

As you witness your children exhibiting any of the qualities listed in the verses, affirm her (“I sure liked the way you showed kindness by sharing that toy with your sister.”) and write her name and the quality she displayed on a fruit and let her hang it on the tree.

Then watch how the true and fruits grown in your home and family.
