Blogging Through the Gospels: He was and is a King

The reading for Wednesday is John Chapter 18.

Here is what I heard:

Scripture:

John 18:37

“You are a king, then!” said Pilate.

Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of the truth listens to me.

Observation:

Jesus explains to Pilate that He is indeed a king and that His purpose is to share the truth about God’s love.

Application:

Jesus definitely lived a life of purpose. He listened to God, he spent time in prayer and He knew what needed to be done. As painful as it was, he still did it for each of us and He stood up even when it was not rewarding, but would result in seeming death.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord for not wavering from your purpose. Thank you for carrying out your plan and doing what needed to be done, even though it took you through excruciating pain that you did not deserve.

You are a loving, truthful God. Thank you.

What about you? What did you see and hear in your reading of John 18?

A lot going on internally here because of what I heard this morning. I would greatly appreciate any prayers, as I believe some major work (ie PAIN) is going to ensue…. but the good kind. :) The kind of pain that draws me closer to my Savior.
