Blogging Through the Gospels: Have peace in Me

The reading for Monday is John 16.

Here is what I heard:

Scripture:

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Observation:

I am telling you all of this so that you will know the truth and what is to come and then you won’t worry. Things are going to be bad here in the world, but hang in there and have faith in me because I have overcome all of this. You can trust me.

Application:

Even when things are bad, He is still here and He is not rattled. He knows what is to come. And He wants me to have peace even through the bad times, by knowing that He is with me and He has overcome.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for this reassurance that you are with me in the rough times and will be with me when they get even rockier. So often I can get caught up in stress and worry. This passage helped me to remember that you don’t want me worried. You want me confident in you. Thank you so much for that.

What about you? What did you see and hear in your reading of John 16?

  1. Wow very inspiring post! I certainly love this verse! It’s a reminder to me to not be afraid on whatever it is that I am facing right now because God is always with me all the time! Thank you.

I chose the same verse! Jesus did not leave us in our troubles–He overcame the world! :)
