Blogging Through the Gospels: Luke 12

The reading for Monday is Luke Chapter 12 .

Today’s message jumped right out at me once I finished reading.

Here is what I heard:

Keep studying and be ready

Scripture: Luke 12:35

“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning.

Observation:

Don’t rest on what you know– continue to listen and learn so you will always be ready for Jesus’ return.

Application:

There is never a time to ‘rest’ and not study or pray or worship.

In agreement with the other verses near this, we are still not to worry, just be ready.

By reading His word daily and praying and listening, I will always be ready for service and will also learn new ways I can serve. There is never a good time to let my studying slide… no matter how busy I am. If I  let it slide, then I risk another day of slipping and then I risk not being ready.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for giving me your word to read and thank you for speaking to me through that word and through the Holy Spirit. Please guide me in staying connected and readying myself for service to you.

I love hearing you and responding to you. Forgive me the days and times I slip behind and remind me of this passage when I let my time with you slip or be rushed.

Instead, help me to be always ready for you.

How are preparing yourself for His service? Are you ready?
