Blogging Through the Gospels: Mark 2

The reading for Saturday is Mark 2.

When it is time to read, please start first by praying and thanking God for His many blessings. Be specific.

Record your thank you’s on paper or on the computer.

Next present your requests to Him. Ask Him for whatever you want and need. As you do, record your requests and questions on paper or on the computer.

Third, ask Him to guide you in your reading, so that you will hear his message for you today.

After you read, record your SOAP observations and then listen for three minutes. Set a timer and just  listen to what he might be sharing. Don’t ask. Don’t thank. Just listen. (You can pray more after you listen, if you like.)

Here is what I heard in the reading:

Scripture: Mark 2: 10

‘But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins…” He said to the paralytic,

Observation:

Jesus know that some were confused as to how Jesus could forgive sins. He explained why He said what He did so that they would have another opportunity to understand His authority and identity.

Application:

Jesus wants us to know Him and truly understand who He is. He doesn’t give up at just telling us once, but if we look, we can see Him sharing his love and identity with us in many ways.

When we share His love we need to be like He is and remember that everyone doesn’t hear His story the same way. Different people might need his love shown or explained in different ways so that they can understand it and accept it. Some need every detail spelled out and some just need to experience it.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for not giving up on us or just telling us about you in one way, but instead sharing things in ways we can understand.

Please help me to consider that when I am sharing about you.

Help me to let your love shine inside of me in different ways so that it can be seen by all who you bring into contact with me.

Thank you for the opportunity to share your gift with others.

What about you? What did you see and hear in your reading of Mark 2?

Feel free to leave your thoughts, or a link to post with your thoughts, in the comments. If you do link a post, please include a link in your own post back to this post so your readers can see what others had to say, as well, and potentially join us.

Come to Jesus. Do not let anything prevent you. Even if you have to dig a hole through the roof!

  2. Do we let Jesus be the Lord of our lives? That’s what I heard today from Mark 2.
