Blogging Through the Gospels: Matthew

There is not a new Bible reading assignment for Thursday.

Instead, take some time to pray and ask God to show you what to focus on from our reading of Matthew.

Flip through your SOAP entries, prayers of thanksgiving and prayer requests and see what you have learned over the last few weeks.

Friday we will jump into Mark, and I think each of us will lern a lot as we read and SOAP through another account of Jesus’ life. But before we do, pause, and pray about your reading of Matthew. Make sure that you hear what He has in mind for you.

Feel free to journal about your observations on your own, or blog and post your thoughts and link from the comments. Either way, be sure to take your time listening, flipping through your notes and possibly also flipping back through your Bible.

Is there a unifying message through all of the passages that jumped out to you?

Have you had an a-HA moment in your prayer requests and answers?

I think that it’s a good thing God loves us so very much–because there is just no way we can ever be “good enough” on our own. We cannot be sin-free. We cannot earn our way to heaven, or earn God’s love. But we are ever so fortunate that He does love us–just because. Not because we deserve His love.

  2. I’m LOVING this challenge! It’s changing my heart and my blogging as it focuses me on God and His will for me every single day! As I looked back over Matthew it seems to me that God has been (gently) hammering the message of immediate and complete obedience into my heart and life.

    1. I am so glad that you are enjoying it and learning!!

  3. Today I really wasn’t sure what to write, so I finally settled on doing a Matthew “top ten” list like Ashley did….
