Calm down and pray

Scripture: Philippians 4: 6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Observation: Bring your troubles to God. Share all of them with him and then don’t worry any longer.

Application: This sounds easier said (and read) than done.

I’m a planner. Or maybe you could call that a pre-worrier. I like to be prepared, to know what is ahead and be ready for it. I am learning, though, that planning ahead and preparing is okay, but having anxiety and over-planning for very contingency is not so good.

I think God wants me to prepare for things, but to make my first step preparation by prayer. And then listen and act from there. Getting anxious will not solve anything. But prayer will: whether it be by a change in circumstances or a change in heart.

Prayer: Lord, keep me focused on you. You are the ultimate problem-solver, not me. I can work towards a solution, but I am going to be way more successful if I invite you to be on my team. For everything. And thank you so much for keeping me calm over the past week with my site issues. And a big thanks for your hand in solving the problems and affirming that you want me on your team, blogging for you.

As a side note: Some of you regulars may have noticed issues with my site for the past week. Thanks for hanging in here with me.

My site was super slow, and often didn’t load at all. And I could post only sometimes and the blog would not allow links off the main page.

Well, today it appears to be back on track. Completely.

My brother, who set up the site for me, went through and tried to problem-solve last week. My hosting service went through and did a few things. But no one could find the exact problem and fix it.

I can be pretty high-strung and anxious in frustrating times, but I tried to stay calm on this one and prayed about it.

Although I never expected it to happen when I began blogging, I feel like many aspects of this blog are the Lord’s instruments. So I asked him to put us back on track or guide me to where I should go to get back on track.

My brother did some routine maintenance the other day and boom! I’m back on track.

I realize to some this may not seem like much, but I honestly feel like God answered my prayer to get MomsToolbox working again. He kept me calm and I relied on him. And then today this was the verse that struck me.

Hmmm.
