Daily SOAP Devotion: Acts 1 #SOAPDevo

Howdy!

I’m so glad you are reading the Bible with me and the rest of the MomsToolbox community!

Here’s our Daily SOAP Devotion reading for today:

  • Acts 1 (Yep, that’s it. You can do that!)

Are you reading alongside me?

Here’s what stood out to me using the SOAP Devotional Method:

Scripture:

Acts 1:11

“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Observation:

I know these are definitely not the words used, but I hear this: “Why are you standing around doing nothing? He’s gone for now, but will be back at the right time.”

Application:

I hope my observation doesn’t come across as disrespectful.

I am sure if I saw Jesus taken up into clouds I would be dumbfounded. What I hear  though, in this passage, is God saying “Yes, amazing things are happening. But don’t just sit and dwell on them Go! Do! Share!”

Now that we have seen Jesus, it is our turn to share His story. It is our turn to spread the news and help others, just as he helps each of us.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for sending Jesus to be your hands and feet so that we could learn how to love and share and care for others better. And thanks for this reminder to not just sit bewildered by the mysteries you reveal to me. It is up to me to go and do… to share your love and my wonder. Please help me to do just that.

What about you?

I’d love to know how today’s reading impacted you. Are you up for sharing in the comments of this post and/ or tweeting it out using #SOAPDevo?
