Day 67 of the Bible in 90 Days: He calls us to serve His kingdom, not just our house

Today’s Reading: Habakkuk 1:1- Zechariah 10:12

(Tomorrow we begin the New Testament!!)

Scripture: Haggai 1:9

“You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house.

Observation:

After all that you thought you did, you expected to see a lot of return on your work. But your work was largely selfish. What have you done for the Lord’s kingdom?

(Reading Haggai 1:1 through 1:11 will give you a better look at this.)

Application:

What are my priorities and where does the Lord’s house and kingdom fall in as compared to my own family?

Prayer:

Lord, please guide me as I work for your kingdom. Show me how to serve you the way you desire in working for the best of all of your kingdom, as well as my own little part of it in my family. I want to give careful thought to my ways and be sure to plant much, as well as harvest much (Haggai 1:5).  I want to honor you above all.

Thank you, Lord, for this reminder. And thank you for the guidance which I know you will give me.
