Get to work! Proverbs 28

If you are reading the Proverbs in 31 Days with us, our reading for today (Monday) is Proverbs 28.

Scripture: Proverbs 28:19

He who works his land will have abundant food,

but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

Observation:

Get to work! Stop messing around with ideas unless you plan to work hard to achieve them.

Application:

Oh, the ideas I have and, oh, the things I would like to accomplish! It’s fine to dream a bit.. as long as I am prepared to work, too.

And procrastinating by dreaming up new ideas is still procrastination.

If I want any results to happen, I need to buckle down and work, work, work. No more dilly-dallying!

Prayer:

Lord, you are calling right out to me here. I want to do so much, or, at least I want to have done so much. But everything I dream of accomplishing takes time and commitment and I need to narrow in and focus on the things that are most important and get THOSE things done and stop dreaming up more things.

Please, God, help me to focus. Help me to block distractions. Help me to stop trying to fit 9 or 12 things into a spot that can only hold 6.

Guide me in working my land abundantly and stop me from chasing fantasies (unless I have my work done first and then am willing to really work to make those fantasies reality, too.)

I need to stop wasting the time you have given me and put it to a much better use.

Please help. I need it.

What about you?

What did you hear in today’s reading of Proverbs?

Hi…sorry I am a little behind. I was behind posting for 11 days & behind in reading for 6 days. I am all caught up now. The scripture I chose was verse 6. I posted 3 different versions of it. Does anyone else like looking up verses in different versions like I do?? http://teampipkin.blogspot.com/2011/11/proverbs-28-to-walk-with-integrity.html

I ended up with a study today that looked a lot like one I did earlier in the month. I think God is truly wanting me to give! http://jewelsgems4.blogspot.com/2011/11/proverbs-28-dont-freeze-up-just-give.html
