Scripture: 1John 2:1
My dear children, I write this to you so that you wlil not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense– Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
Observation: God does not want us to sin, and sent us his Word so we can learn to live in the way he desires. However, he recognizes our shortcomings and sent Jesus to die for our sins that inevitably come.
Application: I must use this tool to measure my actions and try not to sin. And I must also give thanks to the blessing in Christ who wipes away all my mistakes.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for giving me a guide for living my life in your Word. And thank you for recognizing that I am fallen and need your son to plead my case and wash away my many sins. Thank you for both of these gifts. And thank you for allowing me to realize these gifts and not take them for granted.
